New to VR modeling here. You should know that this video is still giving light to those of us in the dark. It's comforting and insightful to hear your thought process and see how you navigate through your corrections. I'm attracted to this tool because of the ability to create fluid curved surfaces. Cars and clothing are things I want to learn to create. This was well done. Thanks a bunch!

This is so helpful, I didn't realize line weight could be adjusted afterwards, nor did I realize there was a "snap" when moving objects. Thanks James!

Because VR has such a small audience right now, (probably because of how expensive it is,) it's very hard to find videos with useful information on this stuff. Thanks for being one of those people who actually share information on these things. I might have to start making VR videos myself, we need more content on this stuff, people sharing information. 👌

I'm learning so much from your videos. Thank you so much for narrating all the usages of the tools.

This is great, James. Thanks for taking the time to make and share this information. Your work with GS so far is stunning.

Thanks Jason, I hope to have a few more videos that share a little more insight into my process..

Great video!! I am so lost in Gravity Sketch. I've watched a few tutorials but none of them really lay out starting something like this video did. Thanks for posting videos on this really interesting tool.

Hey James, great video. I still don`t get how to move it with axis constraint. I have my smart move activated, but it doesn`t snap to any constraints for some reason.
@jamajurabaev64607 жыл бұрын
ok. Found how to do it. I had to align 2 controllers together. Thanks!

Thank you, I really enjoyed watching each of your videos. made me think buying one and try it. Most people speak about it from gaming point of view rather a design. I wish to know from your experience, what kind of VR system is good enough for creating 3D objects? - I've noticed about 1.tracking 2. field of view 3. controllers are different With each system, if it's the HTC VIVE PRO , OCULUS RIFT or Samsung Odyssey . Do you have a recommendation ?
@JamesWRobbins6 жыл бұрын
I've used the HTC vive and the Oculus rift. Both have the same visual quality. But, I prefer the controllers on the rift and all my work is done with the Rift. I haven't used any of the microsoft MR headsets with this so I have no comparison there.

Thank you for such an excellent introduction. Are surface intersect and trimming operations available in Gravity Sketch?
@JamesWRobbins6 жыл бұрын
Not at the moment. I'm not sure if or when that will happen.

How do I constrain / snap objects , what do you press? Thanks
@JamesWRobbins4 жыл бұрын
Depends. If you want to constrain movement to a specific axis you need to turn on smart move and align your controllers when you move an object. Snapping is object specific when in edit mode for points. I see this comment is a few months old (sorry). In the latest release, there is a new tool belt that also offers an axis moments wideget/tool that could help.

Have you tried using Leap Motion with the software yet?
@JamesWRobbins7 жыл бұрын
Not yet. I've had a leap motion since it came out but I've never used it for anything. I'll have to read up on the install docs and get the leap motion working first..I'll see if I can get it working this weekend..
@JamesWRobbins7 жыл бұрын
Looks like the leap motion I have is to old. Maybe V1.

i'm using a vive. How do you go back and edit your shapes, the controllers look different than yours.
@JamesWRobbins7 жыл бұрын
I think with the vive, its the blue button on the left controller. Above the left touch pad. Just hover over the part you want to edit with the right controller, make sure the part is in the transparent sphere then hit the blue button on the left controller. Hope that helps

i have been whacking my head , how do u control and pull out the move constrait?
@JamesWRobbins7 жыл бұрын
Make sure Smart move is turned on in the settings. It's then just a matter of lining up your controllers in a row. You should see a grey line pop up for a random angle dependent on your controller direction. Then Red, Blue and green for the X,Yand Z axis. It takes a little getting used to. I've also found that when my hands are closer together it pops up more often. Hope that helps..

James, how do you record your videos? I saw a topic on the manual, but it doesnt seem to work. Thanks!
@JamesWRobbins7 жыл бұрын
I use camtasia to record the screen and use the microphone built in the Oculus headset for sound. If you hit escape when the app is running, a dialogue box will pop up. click smooth head movement for better quality.
