This raw footage of my visit to the Halema'uma'u lava lake was recorded in the early morning of September 16, 2011. Halema'uma'u is a pit crater located on the south end of the Kilauea caldera on the the Island of Hawaii. The Halema'uma'u crater is approximately 2500 feet in diameter. The lava lake featured in this video is 250 feet below the floor of Halema'uma'u and is approximately 500 feet in diameter. For a shorter, edited version, please see "The Halema'uma'u Lava Lake". Thanks for watching!
