Lookin' at dad's workshop... you were never going to be fostered out. He obviously NEVER throws anything out! You are a lucky man.

It’s interesting to see all the metal and machine work you do, and the welding. Most folks don’t have access to all the resources and guidance you do. It sure takes a lot of special tools to work on those Rotax engines.

Nice work! Very cool to see your dad taking the time to teach us this stuff.

Another great video. You are diving deep into that engine! I've been reading up on the internals of the 912 a little but didn't realize how many close tolerance fits were involved. And that water pump with two mechanical seals. That's a complex piece of gear for something so simple. Patreon is working but come on people, poney up. These videos aren't making themselves!

thank you very much!!!! yea, that water pump situation is pretty interesting. I'm used to taking them off and throwing them away... not this integrated situation! rotax has some interesting ideas about things.. generally good lol

I love the old family shop man, looks sweet. I just subscribed earlier today from over here in AUS and watched a bunch of your videos, then you just dropped this one, bingo. I look forward to seeing you get back in the air. KZbin needs more good honest stuff like this, great work!

Wow that was quite a process taking all that stuff apart. I'm fairly mechanically inclined, but anything that involves pressing stuff in using hydraulics, I usually send that out. I tend to overdo it with the force and have to start over again with a fresh seal/bearing/whatever.

Wow! Now that was some work. Guess that shows why having the right tool is so important. Glad you have the ability to create what you need.

Morning Todd, love your work, BUT please use hearing protection and safety glasses, also gloves would be a great idea. I look forward to seeing you put it all back together. Best to lay the parts down in sequence on a clean table. I find this helps when I repair engine’s. Cheers from Tasmania, Wiz

Thought the same thing. There's teaching an old dog new tricks but there's also teaching a new dog old tricks. Hope the new dog is up for the challenge.

Looks like my shop,everybody gives me hell for hanging on to parts and pieces,but there usually the next one in line wanting me to make them something,and then you get to tell them why you keep the odds and ends.Looks good I cant believe the pressure it took to get that water pump shaft out,I like the being able to do things without a cad machine,even though it would be nice to have one as an option.

Great start bro, you can even make engineering look sexy. Shouldn't be long before you're making Edge corporates!

Compete in the next Reno or High Sierra STOL drag contest and be featured in videos with the bigger aviation channels and your channel will grow.

It would be nice to get out to HSF sometime... would be very helpful to the channel to mingle with some other aviation youtube guys for sure... but nearly impossible to get away from work that time of year. What you are saying is good advice, and I may find a way to do something like that hopefully, but I may need a different job to partake!

Have you considered replacing that old style clutch with the new style friction discs?
@GravityKnightFlying
@GravityKnightFlying 4 жыл бұрын
Didn't realize there was a newer version of it actually! I did make some modifications to the clutch, but that was proprietary Edge Performance info I had to swear to never ever share!! 😉😅 so it didn't make it on video...
