Graxpert has changed my workflow. It is incredible. I'm not sure why or how it is free but Frank and his team deserve some sort of medal from the United Nations or something. If an appropriate Astrophotography For The Masses medal doesn't exist, they need to make one.

Hi! Thank you for your lovely words! For us, this is a motivation. If a software is free or not, is mostly a question of philosophy. We decided to make it a non profit open source software. As all developers are doing it in their (very limited) free time, thats the only way to do it from our standpoint. And if in the future we don´t have time and or interest in developing GraXpert further, others are allowed to do it and use the code.

Deconvolution is much more difficult than denoising.

Are you able to help me ? I am having a problem getting Graxpert Denoise ( on it's own and also in PixInsight) to work on my Win10 computer. I keep getting an long error which starts with "cx_Freeze: Python error in main script" followed by a long message .... I can send you an image of the whole error message by email if you would like to see it. Is it possible that I am not downloading the AI script correctly? ... or am I doing something else wrong? Any help that you can give me would be very much appreciated.

i trying to add the url in my repository but im getting an error saying "You have specified an insecure protocol (HTTP or FTP) to connect with this update repository. Insecure update repositories are not allowed by current preferences settings." any idea how to fix that?

Intalled on mac 14.4.1 with arm64.dmg. Set the security setting like usual but when I open it just opens the grey screen and the spinning ball forever. Previous version worked fine.

Brilliant I just used AI 3.0, it was fantastic, its my req pls work on AI tools like Blur X Terminator, Blur X Terminator is fantastic tool but also too much costly!

Its not that easy to create a tool like BxT. But we have some ideas we are playing around with.

V3 will not run the denoise function and gives me an error message, where can I send the log so you can investigate in case this is a common issue. Background extraction works just fine.

Hello, I had the previous version of GraXpert and all worked just fine and also via PI. After removing the old version, I have now tried to download the new version 3.0. However, the software downloads but when I double click to open the file I get a message that the software is an executable file ......... are you sure you want to launch? I click OK but nothing happens. I have a windows 11 computer and all is upto date. Can you please advise as to how I can get this new version?

This is most likely a problem with your security settings. The message normaly doesnt ask something like "are you sure you want to launch". Are you sure there is no anti virus software running?

@@astrophotocologne Thank you, running Norton 360 which showed the download to be safe and from a trusted site. Norton 360 controls my window defender so cannot access window defender settings.

Think I have managed to resolve this issue with the lock-state which can be disabled from the file properties of the installation file.

I've installed this new 3.0 version but in the AI model panel I have "none" on both Background Extraction and Denoising tabs. I also get a python error while launching the graxpert script into PI :((

normally, if you first open GraXpert (Standalone Version) and open a picture and try to run Gradient Removal or denoising, the AI Models should be downloaded. Just to clarify this: This is a mandatory step to do, before you can use GraXpert in PixInsight!

Thank you, I am stuck on adding thte AI Model in Windows. I am being asked to use the Advanced panel on the right, however there is no AI-Models listed to select from, only "None". Can the AI model be downloaded manually? I appreciate you pointing me to this newest video, however I am still not able to get an AI model. Fingers are crossed your team adds the ability to manually download the AI model so we can use this tool successfully! Thanks in advance!

Hi, this can have a couple of reasons: - your computer is not connected to the internet. Please note that GraXpert is not shipped with the models and needs an internet connection for downloading them. - the system time of your computer is deviating too much from our sever which hosts the models. Please make sure that the time of your computer is set correctly. In Windows there is a slider to enable/disable automatic clock synchronization in the systems date/time settings. You might want to disable and re-enable it once. - some anti malware engine of your computer is blocking outgoing connections from GraXpert Best regards David

@@astrophotocologne When I click on the link to join Dark Matters, the next page says I'm going to accept the invite. After clicking on that, the next page says "Whoops. Unable to accept invite". Then it goes in a loop after that. I already follow several Discord channels so it's doesn't have anything to do with joining Discord.

I love Graxpert. I am new to It and I am finding it very difficult to save the de-noised. backround extracted image. Even if I try and save it unstretched, the image I save ends up being overstretched. Maybe someone can suggest a tutorial? I am not a newbie by any means so I know I am just doing a very simple thing wrong. It is amazing software

hm that sounds a little bit like its getting automatically stretched when you open it in another software!?

Yea that is exactly what is happening as far as I can tell. I watched a in depth Siril tutorial by a guy who writes command scripts for Siril and he advised to just ignore it. When you put the stretch back into linear and stretch it, it tuns out ok. I haven't tried it il Pixinsight yet. I wkl be doing that later after I get a few more subs from M106. Hopefully it works. But I am still very confused why Graxpert stretches an image even when you dont want it to. Weird

I have instaled the supposed to be new version 3.0 0n windows11 64 and after the installation process is finish I still get the previos 2.0 version. I accurately followed the instructions to find the new version, but no way. Does anyone get it ? Please, help!

Maybe it just shows 2.0? Are you sure you don´t have the Noise AI in there?
