Just for clarification the clothing used in this video is to illustrate and contrast Grayman vs Tactical clothing, that doesnt mean that you literally need to wear gray clothing. As indicated in the video grayman is about finding the cultural baseline and trying to match that, if everyone is wearing flannel shirts with beards than you should do the same, if everyone is wearing a suit and tie, you should do the same. In some places "tactical" is gray etc. Generally speaking gray is a very neutral color. You can get these backpacks here. The Grayman pack canadianpreparedness.com/search?type=article%2Cpage%2Cproduct&q=addax* The Tactical pack canadianpreparedness.com/products/vanquest-trident-31-edc-pack-bug-out-bag?_pos=2&_sid=18ec3a73d&_ss=r Use coupon SURVIVALPREPPER for 10% off these great packs!

I used to be homeless. It's a long story. Crazy lemme tell you. Most wont be able to mental handle being homeless, so they go to drugs, drink more, or get high. For me getting high and alcohol was big, especially in the cold winter time. I had to have heavy clothing in the winter. And put myself near a bridge hidden so no one seen me or at least the raccoons and rats. Most people who seen me usually didnt know I was homeless. It was a tough time but ended up finding out different tactics and methods to literally survive on no money at all. Food was a blessing to me. Now at 24 years old (I was 21 back when I was homeless) I have a good construction job and blessed to have my own studio. God bless and stick together when shit hits the fans 🙏

@The Pervy Prepper there's been an explosive influx of from NYC buying up houses in my area (about 90 miles north). They stick out like a sore thumb in our small community, in their choice of car, attire, behavior, etc. (Most are very nice, that's not the point.) But they are patent leather and fur coats and we are red flannel and camo. I'm simply saying that one's environment is the determining factor in blending in as a "gray man".

I've been to rural areas many times and they dress the same way people do in the city. Whether it be cammo or a button up. I have come to the conclusion that people stick out in small communities because, its a small community. You probably haven't seen them around before. Every single person I know from the country dress more "city like" (fur, leather, designer jeans and flannels) than the people I grew up with in the city, we were quite poor to middle class where I'm from and you wore around town what you wore to work. Which was usually work boots, a t shirt, and jeans. As a matter of fact I am of the belief that country folk are quite high end, similar to the downtown folk. This is just my experience. So being gray still seems superior to tactical if you have to cross both city and rural areas.

The people who look prepared are the first to go down. In the military i learned not to wear USMC clothes or military gear like that. If your in the store for instance and the crook notice there is a military person right there they will shoot or injure that person as their first move to make sure the person who looks like they can jump in and stop the bad thing from happening is removed from the equation so then their plans are not ruined. You become the target before you even notice there is a target and the attention has shifted from holding their weapon directly to the person at the cash register to maybe holding you as a hostage or using you as an example of what will happen if the cash is not handed over. To maintain a low profile is usually best for many reasons

The difference between Gray Man and Tactical Man has as much to do with how a person carries themselves as how they dress. Walking around with a I'll stomp everyone's ass look regardless of how you dress will illicit a bad response. Do to my own situational awareness I observe how people react to the presence of other people and myself in different situations. In most cases the average citizen lives in what I call the 1 meter box. Anything outside that box that doesn't directly effect them is virtually invisible. Especially with today's smartphone hypnosis. The use of tactical clothing by the general public has made even it invisible in many places. People today are so caught up in their own struggles unless you do something to hinder their movement or physically touch them. Your presence is just a blur in their lives. generally the only people paying attention to their surrounding are the ones being paid to do so or other people who use Situational Awareness in their daily life.

I've lost count of how many people I've met that wear some kind of surplus, and never even considered military surplus. What I call "desert boots", and the pants with that God awful hot mess the Army went to after M81 are all the rage here, and an assault pack.

Not quite... if a house is known to have guns, it is more likely to be burglarized. And while we don't have statistics for backpacks, I would assume the same applies. Tactical guy looks like he has a gun in that bag, better steal it. I would say in addition to that, those tactical backpacks are usually heavy (molle webbing ads a lot of weight if not used for zero benefit). Also, there might be inconvenience in your daily life. E.g. you might be more often chosen for "random" security checks. And people in general will be less cooperative because you look unfriendly. I also don't think that people are scared of someone dressing tactically. Projecting power is more a personality treat than and attitude than the way you dress. Clothing might enhance it, but either you have it or you don't. Most will exactly think what was mentioned in the opening "what is this guy compensating for". Personally, I like bike-backpacks, they sit very well, usually have lots of compartments for organization (often on the belt, for easy access), are lightweight and optional can have a back-armor (e.g. EVOC).

Reality: one of the more popular prison shows presented that very scenario to several hardened criminals. Murderers, bangers, armed robbers. I know alot of people who buy them as there are very versatile and generally well built. But alot of it can depend on what types of clothes you are wearing while with that bag. But the biggest weapon is knowing whats happening around you as much as possible. And then knowing how to react to situations around you with the tools and knowledge you have. Just because a dude comes in to the restaurant your in and robs it at gun point and you carry, doesn't mean that you should take out the threat.

Years ago when i was a national power and weightlifter, i was huge. 31” thighs, 20 1/2 inch arms, 35 inch waist and a 57” chest relaxed It got me attention People stared and noticed you everywhere you went They avoided me like the plague because they assumed i would have this bad ass attitude and want to snap them in half If it was shtf, i would have stood out like a sore thumb no matter what i wore Great for hauling tons of gear in the woods but a beacon in the city (i was a martial artist and boxer too so could move with the bulk as well as being fit for the military) That was in the mid 80’s Now that i am in my 60’s and have lost a lot of that bulk, i can move around more easily without being noticed. So i reckon if shtf and you have to move around the city, gray man is good In the woods the tactical stuff would be better so that you dont stick out like a sore thumb It also depends if you are moving to get out the city, foraging for supplies that you are locked down and cant get out for what ever reason, or if you did get out and are now in the woods and need to disappear from marauders etc If exiting by vehicle a change of clothing of each with a pack cover (if you got a gray man pack carry a camo cover and vise versa) in your vehicle. Its a small bag and you are covered. Also, layer your kit I work off levels 1-3 plus edc The old timers military PACE system And a loose bag with extras as above Thanks for a good video I dont care if you were military, spec ops, CIA etc As you get older and dont practice everyday, the Commadore 64mb computer needs a refresh screen every now and again Brigadier Ferguson said: Its surprising how little kit is essential to survival, but amazing how essential that little is Stay safe out there Heads up Eyes open No fear

I don't know the validity of it but it stuck with me, I'm more of a fan of the show of force as a deturance and that bad guys like predator wild animals will seek out the weakest looking in the herd. Gray man is about blending into your environment.... think wearing clothes at a nudist beach... It's really not about tactical vs. non tactical.. at 10-50 yards.... gray man non-tactical could be the difference between betting noticed vs. ignored.... at 100-500 yards, not likely.

@@ApocGuy i was referring to hiking on trails. Like the ice age trail around here or when I did the PCT. Hiking for a months on end you will not be carrying a tac shovel after week 2. There are bins all along the start of the trail in Georgia where people deposit stuff they don't need. People put bowie knives in there worth 100s of dollars but would rather save weight. Trowel or 3 pound shovel that is overkill for digging a hole to shit. In regards to bushcraft which is when I do carry my stubby shovel among other heavy things. Thays different because if you doing it right you shouldn't be seeing another person haha. Im also blessed with large swaths of family wisconsin woodland so I may carry a bias

You MUST have been reading my mind, LOL! I have a Maxpedition Gyrfalcon Backpack I absolutely love, however it screams Tactical! Two of the reason I bought THAT pack is its volume capacity, and its slim Design. It ALSO fits my Tall Torso very well. I'm the Disaster Response Officer for my Church. This past week I showed that pack (My Get Home Bag) to my Pastor. He had nothing negative to say, but the LOOK he had on his face gave me pause. He HAS drank the Biden KOOL AID, so I have to be EXTREMELY careful around him. He asked me if I own firearms. I dodged his question by showing him my Pepper Spray, and telling him I prefer non-lethal means of self-protection-WHICH I DO-and went on to tell him I can treat someone I pepper sprayed while waiting for law enforcement, but One CAN'T call back a Bullet-which is ALSO true. When a prepper is talking to someone about preparedness, you HAVE to KNOW the person's mindset and political set, when going in. I succeeded in directing him AWAY from the subject of firearms, and we got back to the business of getting church members better prepared for a Disaster, whatever form that might take. Unless someone asks me DIRECTLY about firearms, it has become a subject I no longer discuss in public. I will continue to work with him in helping our church become better equipped to handle a disaster post-event, but I will NOT trust him with ANYTHING I am doing personally for MY Family!

Just remember “When in Rome....etc”. Hopefully you will at least have your EDC with you when something goes down. I don’t carry a large backpack with me in the area that I live. Really hardly anyone carries a large backpack where I live. So for me it would be out of place to have one. That’s my version of blending in. I wish I could carry one so that I could have more stuff on my persons. But I do keep my backpack in my truck which is usually close to me.

Honestly, unless someone is hunting or camping, they look very weird dressed all in tactical gear. They look like a militant, wanna be cop with severe psychological problems. Coming from someone who lives in El Paso, they look like the type who may try to shoot up a Walmart and make me feel very uneasy. If your objective is survival, being as anti-social as possible will not help. No man is an island. One of the best survival tactics is to prove yourself to be a good, honest and reliable friend and surround yourself with people who have proven the same to you. Deep rooted community bonds are more important than a backpack.

The Gray Man, can handle more situations. However, if you want to keep others away, then you may go with the Tactical one. I would think the Tactical, may be more useful in a stationary position such as a camp guardian, etc., or for concealed movement in a forested area. The Gray Man, allows for more movement between areas.

I confirm cause i use tactical packs and im a woman. I get looks (in metropolises) occasionally but notice how im never approached unlike other times I looked plain where i was more approachable and annoyed. In metropolitan places, using some tacticool stuff, people left me alone and definitely not try to fool me unlike how the cons treat tourists who are using plain stuff. In rural areas and wilderness, its considered outdoorsy since i see other hikers with tac packs as well. I live in CO now so i see tac packs so much that you honestly wont stand out. I used to live in NY and yeah i get a few stares but like i said, theres a contrast at least for me. Also as an introvert, its a plus. Locations can also be a factor. Regardless, i think if anyone wants to do harm to anyone, i think the least they would be concerned about is how one looks. The only times i think people will care is if they're looking for a suspect with a matching description which would suck but can and has happened to many people. That or if your in a foreign country because either route you rep, you will still stand out as American or European.
