Refurbishment of a top grade English Willow Cricket Bat from Gray Nicolls.
Gray Nicolls Predator 1300 (stickered, but is a former pro bat, so the shape is different to the retail version of this bat).

I like how you kept the original stickers intact. I hate loosing the stickers on a refurb job.

Preference of the player mate. It’s certainly much easier to refurb taking them off, but there’s a certain aura about an old bat still going.

Cover23Drive Cotton Shop twine from Bunnings. .com.au/grunt-75m-cotton-shop-twine_p4310293 I like it as i find it’s easier to control when binding.

Love your work, what wax do you use to wax the blade of the bat?

There are two types I use. Main Josco White, but if I want a really high shine I use Josco Blue. You have to be careful though as the blue sometime leaves a blue tinge on the bat.

hey bro kindly tell me how should i turn this white wood glue into liquid form , i once mixed it with water but it didnot worked and one more question ,, what is the name of this polishing machine and whats that white chalk , kindly inform me about that ,, i'll be grateful

Farmanullah Safdar Don’t water down your glue. Repairs won’t hold as well. If you want to ‘inject’ the glue like I did in this repair, you need at least a 18 gauge blunt needle. Most polishers are converted bench grinders. This was a 250 watt Ryobi 150mm. I’ve since upgraded to a 600 watt Abbott & Ashby 200mm. The polish is a cheap aluminium polishing compound.

THIS IS INCREDIBLE! i have my own bat face cleaning and refurb business i run out of my shed, im 15 and i can do them pretty good but my aim is to reach your high standard and learn to do repairs, what liquid did you use to clean the stickers without wrecking them?

Harry, thanks for the follow of the various platforms mate. Keep giving it a go mate. I use De-solv-it to clean the stickers. You need to give it a bit of elbow grease, but it has a nice citrus scent. www.bunnings.com.au/de-solv-it-125ml-sticky-spot-and-stain-remover_p4460063

Thanks for the feedback Pratik. Needle: I use 18g steel blunt tip needles. Anything smaller than that and a decent glue won't squeeze through. If you go much bigger you can't get the needle into the cracks to glue. Syringes: I've used a couple of different syringe sizes, but I find the 3ml ones the best. Smaller than that you need to refill mid job, bigger than that you can't get the unit at the right angle to inject properly.

This bat is stickered as a Gray Nicholls Predator 3 1500. But it is an old bat from one of the GN sponsored pros, so was actually a players shape.

Hey mate how do you fill out your cracks with sawdust and glue? Or just super glue

Casimar Wright This one was a bit different to the GM as the cracking was a bit worse. In gluing the cracks with wood glue and leaving it overnight, the wood glue fills out most of the crack. I did super glue some small face cracking, just so the facing had a nice smooth surface. Which glue I use for cracks really depends on how big and the type of crack. Hope this helps.
