If you know where the spawn points are, that could make the walls more effective. And do like Oxhorn does and just concentrate your defenses. I need to see if that mod was ported to the Xbox.

I believe Oxhorn explained in "How Settlement Attacks Work" that walls are completely ineffective because of scripting when you fast-travel into a settlement under attack. The raiders/mutants/etc travel the distance between the spawn point and their attack location in the time it takes you to fast travel. Since the script does not recognize walls, the raiders will "teleport" through them into the middle of your settlement, leaving the belly exposed. If your turrets and defenses are not prepared for this, your settlement will suffer. It is best that you build your defenses to at least 150 so you have a high chance of success if you do not visit it. In this way, I can say my settlers "dragged" the raider into the center of town to show off their victory against the foolish attackers.

I like the waterfall at this settlement because it's almost lore/gameplay friendly-- the quest to get Greygarden as a settlement involved having to go clean up and restart the pumps at a nearby water facility so clean water could flow.

I use the waterfalls (small ones) to add 'life'to a fountain I have that has lion heads and mermaids or something on it - I put the markers in the lion's mouth so it looks like they are spitting. Add colored industial lights around the base for a nice effect.

So glad to find someone that loves the scaffolding as much as me. People were really dismissive of it upon release but I find a million uses for the pieces. Defence is just one. Oh... If you want guns by your sniper posts then you may want to use the 'glass lid' display cases! I think they look good in a 'break glass in case of emergency' type way! :D

You can assign the Mr Handy robots to be provisioners between Graygarden and another settlement, or you can use what came with the Automatron DLC and just hack them, and shut them down. Command them in the workshop mode to go to some isolated corner, then hack them and shut them down and they will kinda fold up and lay on the ground. You could also try using them as decorations this way if you can get them where you want them.

Piping all that water that far up would put a huge strain on the pumps and pipes on ground. I seriously doubt that anyone would be able to do this with old pumps and pipes and have it working for long... but I love that waterfall. GG.

What you did with this settlement is simply amazing. It has everything I would want, the views, the variety, and I just absolutely love the way you have been able to integrate the overpass, the winding stairs, the trailers on each floor, all of the unique and different, and of course the water fall is completely charming. Great idea as well to gather plants where the robots would otherwise be working with thin air - I didn't know about this curios bug (if that's the right word), but you have found a wonderful solution to give it the appearance of working naturally. I honestly don't know what more you could do to make this a better settlement. Of course, with space enough one can always do more, build more rooms and add more variety, create a vast city or something, but that would subtract from the whole of this place. I am so very impressed with what you have created here, Oxhorn, there's no other way to put it. Thanks for sharing. :) .......... P.S. I too had no idea that you can build on the overpass, it certainly changes the perspective of this settlement.

I've started using the orange cones you find everywhere in the game to mark off the boundaries of the settlement borders and anyplace I want to build something later. You can also use the tires you can pick up for this purpose, but the cones just look nicer.

If you use the place anywhere mod, and pressed the "End" key, it makes any item ignore physics ("Home" enables it again), so you can scale an item and fine position it in that AND make sure settlers don't bump it.

I recently moved my main settlement to Graygarden for my own convenience because Sanctuary is way too far and i am playing on survival mode. Searched for this to see how others build in this place and wow. You built something that people from Diamond City will get jealous while i just added a floating shack above the greenhouse.. yep! I know I'm a few years late with this, but try out the mod called "Make Static" you just drop the desired item press "make static" place it where you want then go into your menu under consumable and press [Make Item Static] . I love it so much that I ended up getting rid of OCDeco

If you like DD settlement stuff, and are interested in a pretty hilarious quest, I highly recommend Tinas Cookiepocolypse. It comes with the majority of his crafting mods, including the BuildABear.

Turrets that you point on the top level of the bridge overpass are in range of the spawn point in the hills across the settlement and will open fire on enemies.

IK! OCDecorator add a workbench called the OCDispenser, and it works with every weapon. Settlers and other NPCs can still pick them up (I placed a Fat Man on a shelf in my house in Sanctuary, got my settlement mad at me, and then i went to get my fat man to get surprised by a person in a flannel shirt pointing the fat-man at my head, and fired.....), but as long there are not any angry settlers, you can place weapons with it.

This is a really cool build, the only thing I would add is some junk fencing using the place anywhere mod around the bottom of all that scaffolding. It will really make the scaffolding look a lot more solid.

In regards to the teddy bear with the cigar...the Place Anywhere mod allows repositioning, scaling, and all sorts of fun things with any item you place or pick up in workshop mode. Maybe try that to get the hat on the fluffeh?

The quest you do for the robots deals with a water plant, that could be the reason they have water. Should of had plenty of water because of the quest, but maybe the robots are stingy and don't use that much water.

great build. I to was hesitant to use the scaffolding but now I have some at every settlement. I used it to replace the broken bridges at Warwick. I like it better than the wooden platforms. though I don't have a reason for settlers to go back there it makes it easier to go around popping water pumps in those tanks.

Place It Anywhere is a good mod for making objects static, simply place your object in the world. Press your designated key to open a menu, choose 'property' and press 'static'. Then the object becomes immoveable.

A good mod to fix the annoying spawn points in your settlements is Settlement Attacks Beyond by Scary666Scream. It move the spawn locations outside settlement boundries. Settlement Management Software reads the new locations so you will be able to find the new attack spawning spots.

I was looking at this vid even though it is 2022 and might I suggest that you use the sniper tower from sim settlements 2 for your overpass settup, then you will have a settler actually set to use the sniper tower as he/she takes control of the sniper tower - for all the junk lying around that you "can't" get rid off - might I suggest the mod the robot Mr tiny to collect the dead lying around including that it stores weapons and armor it collects, Mr Scrap who will collect all the scrap you mark off in its list and stores it into your workbench - no more piles of junk around, Mr Medic to help help animals, robots, settlers, friendly ghouls and mutants, Mr Law to help defend your settlements, and of course Mr construction who will go around repairing any electrical fault you get

There used to be a build a bear mod that let you put items on it. Suppose to have been able to put shrunk down armor and weapons for example if you wanted. Maybe it's still around and will suit your needs. For the sniper lookout at the top of the overpass, what about a weapons board from (workshop dlc?) with the rifle on it. It could look like you hang it on this board until its needed (not having to actually use it, as you could just have another in your inventory).

you probably have already found a way to make weapons static (since this was posted some time ago), but just in case you have not, the place everywhere mod can do just that. just press "end" key (default setting) when the object is highlighted ( not selected )

A very good build. I used the box cars at starlight drive in. They are great for houses. Love the decoration you can do with mods especially the shelving. I have just re built my player home at spectacle island with lots of different buildings. But sadly I'm still waiting for mods to come out on ps4 before I start all the decorations.
