Having the ability to carry ultralight gear is great, but carrying 3 pieces of gear in 1 ultralight package is even better! The Titanium Ultrapress takes away the need to have a backpacking pot, water bottle, and water purifier. All you need is the Ti Ultrapress.

A very nice review. I have looked at these water filters before. But this Ti version interests me more. Like you pointed out it's 3 things in one pot. It's a bit expensive, I'll keep a look at and see what comes up.

Good review! But here is where I struggle with the Ti versions of these bottles. I have the Geopress and love it. But, the Ti bottles are heavier than the plastic counterparts (both the qty and 24 oz versions), which surprised me. Huge benefit of Ti is weight but the plastic version wins here for some reason. I also carry a stove and fuel source when I backpack, which takes up space/volume in my pack. I carry one small Ti pot already that my fuel and stove fit into, so for me there is no savings in volume in my pack. Even if I did not carry the pot the file can and stove will still be about the same volume as the small pot I carry. I know there are other ways to get heat to cook with but a lot of regs these days where I pack into about fires so the stove is the most flexible option for me. So my conclusion is, for me, there is not weight benefit over the original and there is no volume reduction in my pack. I wanted to really love it but I can’t justify that high price for little to 0 gain. Am I off here?

@@EventheWavesYT Ahhhhhh…got it. Overall, I think it’s still a solid product. I do like the handles and attach point for lowering the cup into water on a string/rope if you have to though. Can’t think of any vids off the top of my head. You do nice work, keep them coming.

A great video! I'm in the market for buying a Grayl Titanium Water Filtration, just like what you presented. I like your right to the point presentation. Question? Where can you purchase a back up filter? Do you know the cost? If not, I will conduct my own research. What about a case for it? One that you can attach to the outside of your pack. Many thanks! I need on of those units. They cost $200 but, what's your life worth in the wilderness!!! Water "clean water" is life!!

I’ve considered the Grayl but I’m just not sure it adds enough to my kit to justify the expense. If space is the driving factor then maybe so. The older I get weight gets prioritized higher. To quote Mors, “the more one knows, the less he carries”.

I do like TI version but titanium is very soft by the nature I do have few different ones and they look great as they are new but after while they just get dented damaged and they look ugly , unfortunately

@howlinhauler If you had a significant dent it would probably not work as well as it should. It requires the gasket to seal to force water through the filter. I have some debts in the base and it is unaffected though.

Totally understand! The price is pretty steep! I’m working on a review for the MSR pocket Rocket and the Jetboil which are much better options for boiling water.

Jetboil is great for boiling water, but it's bulky and you can't cook food out of it... meaning you'd get charred food if you do.

It is for sure expensive but it might be the last filter you buy. The extra cartridge is under 30$. It will last a long time :)
