Sadly, it's a fairly common thing. People make broken games, that are usually copied and pasted, and make money off of them by forcing obnoxious amounts of ads, in app purchases, "ad free" subscriptions they can charge whenever they want, etc. A significant portion, if not most, of the games on Google Play store, Steam, and various other services that allow users to upload games are this way. Even more sad is that these services *allow* it to happen because they make money off of the upload as well as a portion of the profit.
