A fine performance of a little masterpiece by Bacewicz. A great example of her work in the neo-classical style that incorporates elements of folk music, comparable to Bartok, Prokofiev, Shostakovich... But no one blends tenderness and irony the way she does. And no one developed such finely modulated harmonies as those featured in the middle movement.
