Very nice work sir. Interesting. I don’t know much about cnc lathe work

@@RustyInventions-wz6ir Thank you for the compliment. I don’t know much about manual metal work ha ha. An earlier video on the channel briefly describes my metal lathe setup adapted for ornamental turning.

Very nice! Thank you very much for the video. I think I might use grblgru for a CNC lathe build I'm planning right now. What I did not understand so far: Is it possible to set individual tool offsets for a quick change toolpost or a turret or do you have to re-zero the workpiece location after every tool change?

@@themechanix393 The author has not yet programmed for individual QCTP offsets or turret tool holders. If there’s enough demand I’m sure he’d consider it. As a workaround, I’m sure an imaginative person could write himself a custom macro. Creating custom macros is something Grblgru can do quite easily. If the work plan can be designed in segments suitable for each tool, at the end of each segment I’d think a simple macro to adjust tool position for the next tool could be invoked. The underlying problem is the author is keeping Grblgru lathe fairly straightforward at the present time as he works on a zillion other Grblgru features. There is a milling lathe model in Grblgru Mill that might be easier to use with custom macros.

I don’t limit myself to only one control board. For my CNC mill and CNC lathe I have 3 or 4 I can choose from. Grblgru is the most versatile I’ve found for my wood related work. The USB control boards for GrblHal, Mach3 or Estlcam are all so cheap it’s easy to have that many. I have 2 or 3 simple plugs to manage the 3 to 5 stepper motors between the control boards so it only takes a few seconds to change.

@@embellishedturnings5850 that's a nice idea. Even though a mach 3 license will be too pricey for my project:)
