Interesting to know the color doesn't necessarily mean anything with the grease.

But what does the color mean in the grease? Surely it must mean something to do with the performance or the temperature rating, no? If not, then surely additives for performance can impart a color on to the grease...

This was the biggest Baloney since invention of Baloney. So colours may have some important but not really, and colour system doesn't mean shit if it isn't standardised over the industry as whole...

Exactly what I was thinking. I've been wondering for a while what colors meant what, and where certain colors should be used.. Now I learn they do mean something but not always.. So we have a 50/50 shot at putting the correct grease into our applications. I'm crossing my fingers I put the right grease in my wheels bearings right now😅 I used lucas red n tacky in the truck wheel bearings but I have used the black metallic stuff with anti seize (mixed with the red that was already in there) in my trailers wheel bearings, vehicle ball joints and even my jacks.. I later learned you're kinda not supposed to mix certain greases.. Well how are we supposed to know what not to mix if the colors aren't standardized🤷♂️.
