I fail at separating the Actor from the character because I feel so bad for Marley (Melissa) having to act out scenes with her abuser. He could have hit her the night before and the script says they have a cute scene the next day. Can you imagine how professional Melissa is to not let her personal trauma ease into her scenes with him. 😢

I get where Sue was coming from. Not only is the school in Ohio, Kurt had a bad enough time just for being effeminate, this was 2013. Trans visibility increased a lot in the last few years, but a decade ago, people were still learning to be cool with the gay thing. For perspective, same-sex marriage hadn't been approved yet when this aired.

I’m officially jealous. I love Darren Criss more and more based on his interviews over the years. He’s remained humble, kind and personable. Remember in real life Darren grew up rich but he doesn’t act like it or even let people see that side of him.

The reason Sue didn’t was Wade as Rizzo because she knows that in Ohio it’s going to be a controversy and can put wade in danger in terms of bigots and homophobia. She literally says “don’t put this kid in danger”. The way she went about it was harsh but her reasoning made sense. Ohio is not the place to cast Wade as Rizzo as sad as it is.

I can’t watch anything with Ryder after learning about the actual person. I feel for Melissa having to work with her abusive husband Blake. So I basically fast forward through any scene he’s in. And I love when he gets Catfished

Blake (Ryder) and Melissa (Marley) were dating at this point, were engaged during next season, and married later but divorced after 2 years because Blake apparently decided Cooter's arc was something to aspire to. 😒

@Ks-101 Okay spoilers, but that was early Kitty. Later series Kitty's character has evolved enough to be considered a good person much like Santana going from outright bitch to likeable bitch with a heart of gold.

santana was never that horrible. yes, she took it too far with bodyshaming, but santana would never actually put someone in danger, she always had a good heart. she was mean, not evil

@@rj-hg1kq While she never did anything that wrong, Santana did purposefully give both Finn and Quinn mono, and had Rory pelted with dodgeballs to the point of bleeding. So let's not say she was all bad, but she wasn't all good all the time either.

those transphobic parts were some of the worst things that came out of sue, it always pops up in my head whenever ppl praise her character #neverforget and making finn say a slur 3 seasons later kinda took away his character growth
