This is a great video -thanks. I take fiddle lessons from a great bluegrass player with lots of classical background, so we're starting to work on softening up fingers, wrist and elbow on the bowing arm (for better tone and fewer fudges). As a guitar player with 40 years on the instrument, I've discovered that an analytical approach is key to fiddle.

I love how you break things down into little bits. I've been playing for three years and I don't think that I could have handled this much detail in the beginning because I really wanted to play, but I know enough now and have enough enthusiasm to nitpit. You must teach little ones. You do a great job. Thanks a bunch!

Stephen Murray Thanks, Stephen. Yes, it's in my personality to break things down to very small pieces. Some students love it....others need a quick overview or they get bored. Different learning styles for everyone! Keep up the good work!!!

Thanks for the comment, Parkmotter! You should have a nice advantage, because I have found that the strumming patterns of guitar correlate well with the down-bow, up-bow of the violin! But yes, at first, we have to be analytical, and create great habits, so that we can forget all about it and just PLAY!!!

@verdeyeux I know my students are always shocked when I show them that little tidbit. Thank you for the feedback! I'm glad to know that people can understand the point I'm trying to make via the video.
