Raised in CA, the missions we had there weren't as old as the ones in Texas. I was surprised to read that the Alamo has the correct nomenclature as "Mission San Antonio de Valero". 1836 was a long time ago but the Alamo's roof was gone because the ruins were pretty much abandoned and was already more than 100 years old. It's origin having been since about 1714. ⚠️ Wow...

Awesome job! I'm in the slow process of making a 54mm Alamo out of multiple partial sets of the old original 50's tin litho playsets to create a larger version yet keeping the tin litho playset look. Thank again for sharing your work! Very nice!!!

Very well done ! The one night shot that you showed was moving ... Please do more of those in different locations around the fort ... Great job !

I visited the Alamo in 2017. I had hoped to visit the Alamo since the early 1960s. It's one of America's holiest shrines. Watching your video was heartwarming.

I think it's important to tell the true story of the battle.

Thanks for the really great job on your recreation. I just finished a good book, The Alamo Avengers, by Brian Kilbride. As good as the book was I wish several pages such as your recreation were included. It really gives a good perspective. Nice job

Very, very nice. I appreciate the hard work you've put into it. Will you be surrounding your San Fernando Cathedral model with a Bexar diorama?

The Mission though fortified was never meant to be a real Fort like the one in Goliad TX. Even that one would not of held for long. Modern day troops on war games in Brackettville say the design is un - defendable! Gen. Cos could not hold the Alamo, the Texians took it from him with the help of one of his junior officers! lol The two movie sets are not to scale. This is a nice model!!! Lots of hours were put into it, you can just tell!

The latest Alamo set, up around Dripping Springs, is the largest set ever built for a Hollywood movie and not just facades, but the buildings in their entirety....

What made me mad about the 2004 movie set was that the long barracks were lined up even with the front of the chapel. Pretty good casting though and historically accurate costume design.
@rickyrichards75962 жыл бұрын
@@theoldworld6334 Yes I saw that too. The set in Brackettville was 1/3 the original size. The set close to Dripping Springs was 2/3 the original size. The Alamo was the size of Daytona Speedway. That was huge and way too big for 180+ men to defend! Six men per Cannon would mean there was a man on the wall every 15 feet. When that defender fell, there was a 30 foot gap opened up for the invaders to come in. We have even bigger gaps in the wall on our southern border NOW!!! Texians are once again going to have to defend themselves and close those gaps! 💣 DC is asleep on this problem! 💤

Fantastic job, I'm trying to make my own, however, I bought the chapel from Hudson and Allen, as I could never make that myself and I am now making the walls. By the way, what did you make your palisade out of ? I tried tooth picks but they just looked too thin. Again, great job !
@crazyrandomstuff88426 жыл бұрын
for the palisade fence, try small sticks from the woods or your backyard. I have found those to be the most realistic looking

I'm going to make a diorama of this battle also. I found a 25mm scale Alamo compound on oldgloryminiatures.com that I'm probably going to purchase and use instead of making my own.
