Wow. It's amazing to see how naive and earnest people were back then. Kudos to Greenwald for telling the truth about the Democrats as they, too, were revealed to be corrupt and worthless. This guy will always be one of my heroes.

Quite a quaint thing to be watching this in the year 2021. A completely different world. Glenn Greenwald worried about if a figure like Barack Obama can break through the macho, conservative, media landscape, enthusiastic about up-and-coming figures like Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann. All the liberals in the audience concerned about Bush's torture program, the persecution of whistleblowers like Julian Assange, etc. Every single one of them a frothing, red-scaring, Lincoln Project, Neo-McCarthyist who hates Glenn's guts now.

I hope Glenn Greenwald continues to speak the truth, and continues to carry the same banner of reporting reality that Amy Goodman and Noam Chomsky and other great living Americans have dedicated their lives to. With Edward Said gone and Howard Zinn gone, we need people like Glenn to stay sane in our otherworldly relationship with our government, where the image of America is that half of us think it will save us from corporate tyranny, and the other half think it is necessarily oppressive.

If a station had the guts to hire Maddow or Olbermann, or both (!!) they would clean up. Of course, radio & TV play to the dummies; there could be more smart ppl out there than you think.

as i read through some of the comments and hear the questions,,,i find them to be exactly the reaction Glenn is saying gets these criminals elected by the "Emotional"Feel good drug like reaction,,of a savior,,or war hero,,or superman himself,,,i see it from the stage all the time but then musick is a little different than political manipulation,,.social engineering is not my game,,However Art reflects Humanity's deepest fears or Humanity's Greatest aspirations,,Reach for the Stars everybody,,,That's what we are made of so,,, Peace out

Let me say that what I see going on is the anger on the right will drag the right down. I really liked Alan Keyes and still do. But I split with him in early 2009 when I realized he's becoming a bit too extreme in his delivery.

I see both sides engaging in non relevant attack ads. So I reckon by both sides' measures of each other, neither are worthy of public office. If you agree, thumbs up.

The two sides are one in the same. They're both ultimately in service of the elite class, so there's no point in really engaging in either. Only vote if the difference is worth your time invested.

I am curious if anyone knows where Mr. Greenwald keeps the draft of his sequel: Part II: Hypocrisy Runs Rampant. I would think that he might not want to keep it on a networked hard drive, though. U R writing the sequel when U get a chance R U not? Although I think the anti-Bush rhetoric was needed in '08, the alternative that was proffered fell flat on it's face. Speaking as Independent, I've never seen such stuff going/coming around as afflicted my good friend Mr. G., (i.e., Bush Surveillance).

i am kinda surprised Mr.Greenwald,,,would be arguing from the Hegelian dielectric Paradigm of Party Politics,,,kinda like voting for the lesser of two evils,,or a glass is half empty or a glass is half full....When everytime that glass is Twice as big as it needs to be,,,Now Justice will be served Hot and Cold or No justice no peace.. Fiat Justitia Ruat Caelum ,,may justice be served though the heavens may fall.. Peace out

Greenwald is describing a complex thats a projection of all human life, not just Americans. It's not a strong vs weak dichotomy. It's a brain vs heart dichotomy. Where 90% of American's (even the poor) are considered "rich" compared to the global mean. We're the most liberal country and the most conservative country and the richest country in the world. And we have no real "job" or moral imperatives. We self govern through our president (we the people) and the world self governs through American citizens. So in essence, the world shows American citizens what's important... we have to somehow decipher that mess that then tell our leaders who then implement policy. If the "old world" is naturally full of war.... the world will reflect that war to American citizens who will (always) reflect & inject war into governance. So it's not American's or even our politicians who have to fix shit. It's the so called old world. America simply serves as a beacon or catalyst. To catalyze freedom in all it's ugly forms in a very old and unstable world. And the reason we go to war isn't because we're dumb or don't think things through it's because if we stop using war as a means to govern the old world will start using war to govern us.

i don't agree at all with why we go to war. its because the party s are NEO-l or Neo-cons. Its banked on not like white privilege. its very real! and they are or need to become extinct.

:) I could only salvage this much from my email account: 'People like you haven't the guts, information, or critical thinking skills to properly critique people like Greenwald. Your contribution on this forum is irrelevant, and not worth the time to read. If you want to play in this sandbox, supply...'
