I’m a wimp with coasters, and this ride had a pretty long line which gave me more time to regret getting on in the first place. Once I finally got on it was such a fun ride! I absolutely loved it and it wasn’t jerky at all! Totally recommend this for people new to riding coasters.

Omg I went on this ride yesterday!! There were these two girls behind me probably 2-3 years older and when I told them it was my first time riding it they were so excited. I sat next to them (I was gonna be by myself if they weren’t there) and one of them was like hyping me up and giving me tips. Omg I just rode this ride today and I was literally crying in line. As soon as I got off I was so happy that I did it bc i had sooo much fun and it wasn’t even scary! It didn’t even feel like you were upside down and the corkscrews were the best! It didn’t even make your stomachs drop (that weird feeling in your stomach) which was part of the reason why I didn’t wanna go on! I totally recommend this for beginners

I'm from Harrisburg will b going Friday on my one day off this week temps in high 80s Friday perfect for Hershey I moved to Hbg in January so I been looking forward to the park. Actually I can see kiss tower and great bear from my work site on 322 ...we had a lightning storm other day n I saw the strikes hitting the steel on great bear it was such a cool view. I'm excited great bear wildcat n Fahrenheit r my 3 favorites. I'm from wilkes barre so I was raised on knoebels but Hershey is better

We went for a musical department trip but with all the people there from the different Schools and the time of day the waits were more than an hour, so I went to chocolate world with a group which I’m hoping to try their milkshakes sometime in the future and then got a bit side tracked, then with the amount of time we had I didn’t even see Storm Runner so we went on the Comet, but it’s still CRAZY fun!!

Advice to all who get on inverted coasters (hang down seats from the upper track, like this one): tie your shoes tightly before you get on. I nearly lost my left shoe on the Volcano at Kings Dominion last week.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I got my shoelaces untied once on this...lol. I had my shoes not so tightly tied and by the time I got off my left shoe lace was untied...lol. I saw someone on Saturday that didn't even have his shoes tied, I noticed them dangling from the ride and non of the ride operators noticed and once I heard "Dispatch" I'm like this guy's gonna lose his shoes! I was unable to find out since I was next to get on.

My favorite ride there. It isn't the fastest, it isn't the most intense, but it's the best experience. In the front row, it really feels like you're flying. Thrilling but smooth--it makes for a great time.

+Nerurumi It's not too bad. Great Bear isn't the best to start with, you should try the Comet or something else. Comet is wooden, but smooth for a wooden one. The drop isn't too high. Then, you can try the Superduperlooper or the Great Bear. (Contrary to the name, superduperlooper only has one loop). The Great Bear is very smooth. I never rode roller coasters with loops until I tried the great bear. Just let your friends push you a little bit more.

I've been to Hershey Park twice and the first time I refused to ride the roller coasters, however the second time my aunt convinced me to ride the Super Douper Looper (it only had one loup) and I ended up loving it! so my advice is to just start small and if you don't like it the water slides are fun to XD

The near miss elements on this are incredible. I was terrified that I'd hit my leg on a tree or support beam. Plus that 3rd inversion is so snappy and intense.

When I was little, I would always feel like I’m missing out on riding “big kid” coasters because I didn’t have the guts to ride them myself, and thought people riding them were so cool and I would see them fly overhead on one. I remember watching riders on the Great Bear and thinking “wow… I wish I can do that…” Now at 22 years old, I ADORE roller coasters! The Great Bear and Candymonium are my favorites at Hershey Park! It’s places like this that make me proud to live in Pennsylvania

well on stormrunner, keep your head back so you dont bang it on the sides of the restraints. on fahrenheit, the line will be really long, but the wait is worth it, especially if you're in the front seat. on the great bear, dont wear flip flops. on skyrush, pull down the lap bar a few inches from you legs and when the person comes to push it down, lift you legs a bit so they don't crush it, and during the ride dont lean on it. and on the 2 big wooden ones, their sort of rough but still very fun

I can almost feel my feet being ripped off watching the train go through that helix. I haven’t gotten a chance to ride this yet. Probably won’t until this fall at the earliest next year at the latest. I love that B and M roar. When I went to the park with an ex boyfriend and his parents several years ago his mom said the coaster was called Great Bear because of the sound it makes. I now know the true cause but I was young and new to coasters at the time.

FYI if you are on the taller side...im 6'4" with a long torso, several rides at HP would not accomadate taller riders. So on my recent trip was unable to fit on this ride and several others. I have never had this issue at other parks I have been to like Universal, Six Flags, Cedar Point or Bush Gardens.

Dumb question- do you think this would be a good coaster for someone like myself who is terrified of drop rides and coasters? I’ve ridden the super duper looper but i’m too scared to ride wooden coasters like the comet lmao. I get anxiety from rides that don’t have very tight and secure restraints, but this ride looks smooth and the hills seem very curved instead of just straight down? Do you think it would be a good introduction to “real” roller coasters or is it as freaky as Fahrenheit or skyrush?

Great bear is without a dobut the least intense of the big four (Itself, Stormrunner Farhenite Skyrush) restraints fit over your shoulders. It really isnt very intense.

Storm runner is sometimes closed for no reason. Great bear your feet hang and you go upside down for the great bear you may need fast past. Sky rush is weird with its layout. Lighting racer has 2 cars racing each other. And last but not least. The big drop is a big deal the first hill is that you feel like you can fall off but it’s done fast. The straps can sometimes hurt after for a little. You’ll be fine on the Roller coasters

The most fun coaster is shellraiser in American dream mall you blast off without a countdown or stopping then it hangs over the edge of the drop so u can see nyc skyline then it drops u more then 90 degrees!

While the track may look the same as S:UF (built by the same manufacturer in the same style, riders suspended beneath the track) the two coasters are drastically different. S:UF is a Bolliger & Mabillard flying coaster, whereas Great Bear (and the Batman clones, Silver Bullet, etc.) are all B&M Inverted Coaster Models, where riders are SITTING, not LAYING, beneath the track.

So now i've actually been on every coaster (except laff trakk) in Hershey Park. I can still say this is my favorite. Skyrush, while being very fun, was hard to enjoy with not being able to feel my legs and feet half way through it. And Fahrenheit is really good, but it has too long of a line(all the time, at closing 11PM, there was the shortest wait i had ever seen for it, which was 20-30 minutes) to appreciate. Stormrunner gets old really fast, i've only been on it 5 times but now it just seems like a headache to go on it again. I really like all the wooden coasters there, lightning racer is the most reliable as it always has no line and if it has a line, you're only waiting for like 10 minutes. Wildcat is surprisingly more fun than it looks like it will be, but for me it has to be the worst of the woodies. Comet is good because i'm so light that when i go on it, i get the thrill of going out of my seat on the drops.

I had much higher expectations for this ride, but me and my friends really didn't like it. For one of my friends it was his first coaster with an inversion and I feel bad that this was his first impression of the park's coasters. Storm runner was my favorite and I feel he would have liked it too, but then again, now he hates inversions. I'm not sure if the fact that it got bumpier or what because everyone says it's really smooth but that wasn't the case.

when I went on the superman krypton coaster recently well its a floor less coaster and I put my feet up because u felt like my feet were going to touch the track is thought they did for a minute until I realized it was a bottom part of the seat

Can anybody tell me how long the lines are without a fast pass? I've been thinking about going but I've heard from a friend the lines were horrible.

So I really want to go to Hershey this summer but I went last summer and didn't have the bravery to go on any of the big rides. I really want to but it looks very scary. Any advice on how to get over my fear?

Just go on the ride once! If you don't like it you never need to go on it again! :) If you like it ride it as much as you want!
