My husband and I will be moving to Belize in a few months and I wanted to learn more about the food and different recipes. When I saw your series on Belize cooking, I immediately began watching. What I really enjoy is that you work with the local people for the REAL food. I've learned so much and I can't wait to try these tasty dishes. My husband has to watch his sugar, so would be tweaking some of the ingredients. Thank you so much for showing the different local recipes and introducing so many wonderful people. We are so looking forward to our future home.

Belize is not Guatemalan. To caste them together is to appropriate the heritage of all Afri-Centric Creole, Garifuna and Mayan peoples and their descendents who established the culture of Belize that everyone is enjoying. Not the sweat of your ancestors back, Guatemala has its own claim of culture while now appropriating the culture of the Guatemalan Garifuna who the country force to live poorer than others.

A lot of people do not know that the original Filipino were also Afri-Centric in appearance. Dark skin with spiraled curly 4B/C/D hair. Not the Filipino of today after invasion. The Spanish stole many people from their lands around the world. Everyone was not from the African continent.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with being excited about learning something new. Belize use to be known as British Honduras before independence. It is still watched over by the British government. That's why Belize is the only English speaking Central and South American country.

mexico didn't invent everything in central america. there are other countries that call similar things differently and prepare it differently. Just like mexico is the only place that calls tomato jitomate instead of tomate like most other hispanic countries. :)

it's not a spanish accent per se. belize is central american but considered caribbean. Belizeans mainly speak kriol, which is a broken english not too similar to patois.

+CARLOS MERIDA, pintor Belizeans are not Gautemalans. Belize is an independent nation. Formerly, British Honduras, the principal language of Belize is English, and a sizeable portion of the population speak Spanish. The Maya were not exclusive to Gautemala; they occupied parts of Mexico Honduras, and El Salvador. During times of political unrest, notably, during the caste wars of Mexico, many Maya groups sought refuge in Belize which was a property of the British crown. Belizean Maya have full Belizean citizenship and are accorded full rights; they even openly lobby and petition the Belize government in their own self interests.
