There’s too many twists. Oh look, our heros are winning, now they’re losing, now they’re winning, this person dies, that person survived, nope this other person dies… and so on. After a while I stopped caring when something went wrong. In the first season, that I remember, this turning of the tide happened once and that was when Jinx blew everybody up as they were winning.

A collection of great scenes and moments, beautiful art at every turn, so much so that it smothered character development and the overall narrative arc. Like the arts team took over for the second season.

I don't agree at all, the "artistic scenes" gave a lot of context and development to the characters and story, they weren't the problem at all, quite the opposite: if people felt the season was rushed, I can't image how rushed it would have felt if the artistic scenes weren't there to explain so much in so little time.

I got whiplash when i saw how little interaction this video has and how few subscribers you have. This was a genuinely GREAT Commentary Video Essay. If you keep it up with this level of quality im sure you'll get just as many subscribers as the major media commentary KZbinrs

I though that in the alternate universe, hextech never gets invented because Jayce also dies in the explosion with Vi but it's not officially confirmed AFAIK.
@aresgodofair6205 күн бұрын
Jayce doesn't die with VI. The theory goes that because someone died due to the orbs, instead of just the building getting blown up, Jayce didn't get a slap on the wrist, and was actually expelled from the academy, and then killed himself because he never met Viktor who stopped him from killing himself in season 1.

S2 act 3 really feels like a different show. I think it was a mistake to give Viktor mind control and make him a Marvelesque threat of multiversal proportions, causing more interesting themes to get abandoned and culminating in a generic message of "there is beauty in imperfections" completely disconnected from the rest of the show.
@the_pro_hater5 күн бұрын
On point
@Goldsthar5 күн бұрын
Well, it's not a generic message because it's not a message, it's the organic development of the character, it makes perfect sense considering his whole existance was being weak and slowly dying because of his genetic problems, then he finds out a way to fix himself, then he finds a way to fix others, then at the end he understands that "there is no prize to perfection" and it both develops his character and the concept of the arcane... BUT, I agree it's not the most interesting development, it's pretty straight forward but it's kinda needed to move forwards the rest of the story. I get why people feel this way about the "marvel like" end of Arcane, because the first season DID have a different tone, but still, the arcane was a big thing in season one, from "the mage" that saved Jayce to all the things it could do and Heimer being wary of it and other signs... It was clear it was a major plot device, and they couldn't just leave it like it just sorted itself out and it wasn't that bad. The tone change I think was needed, especially considering this series is going to connect to others in the future, but it's not necessarily better than the tone of the first season, so a lot of people have a problem with that.

Also bring Vander back from the dead and do nothing with him.
@mikolmisol62584 күн бұрын
@Goldsthar The problem is that Viktor's disability wasn't caused by his genetics, but by his growing up in the noxious environment that is Zaun. Contending oneself with there being beauty in the resulting deadly "imperfections" means complacency in the face of their soluble causes. It's as if Jayce had forgotted that.
@Goldsthar4 күн бұрын
@@mikolmisol6258 I mean, it's been years since I watched S1, but he was limping and ill since he was little, it's obvious it is a genetic problem or disease that he developed very early, because you don't see many kids as weak as him in Zaun. Anyway, I don't really understand your point.

I refuse to watch this show because I choose not to believe that anything can be THAT good in THAT little time. That said, I'm interested in your future content; maybe you'll tear down something I like, as your name suggests. Good luck. :)
