Those are pretty secluded. Lots of 'skeeters! Thanks for doing the research for us!

I hadn't been to any of them before but really liked what I saw. Most likely will be back - there were a couple heavy skeeter places. lol

Some nice gems there! $22 a night is getting a bit steep for no frills camping in my humble... Want to look at a real hidden gem, next to impossible to get at, Blind Sucker #2 state campground, it's between Grand Marais and Deer Park, only accessible via very long and very rough dirt roads.

I hear ya but now being out wset.. YIKES !!! on much of the camping costs. I've been by there and want to add it to my "one day" list. Think I showed it in a video from last fall maybe. I thought the truck trail was actually in pretty darn good shape.

All nice parks. UP is a pretty area. The good thing about Eddie is that he's a good size for boondocking or campgrounds. Lol, slow kids. Keep enjoying yourself. 😊👍

Very true! Only bad side is very limited ground clearance to get anywhere close to "remote".

Thanks for the video! Do you have any videos where you explain about needing a Recreation Passport in order to camp? And also any boondocking videos and if certain camping areas for boondocking need to have a Recreation Passport for those as well? Thank you for your time!
@WanderDano

I will add a link to info on the recreation passport. Basically it's $40 a year ($11 a day) pass required for each vehicle to enter state run parks. www.michigan.gov/dnr/buy-and-apply/rec-pp As for boondocking I've done some but can't think of any specific videos of mine. Marked free camping can be rough in the east but still possible. The standard sites like freecampsites.net and the like can be really helpful. In Michigan I am often a fan of casino's for free and sometimes sites with hook-ups. Hope that helps - all the best

I recently camped at Island Lake -- by the time I decided to camp there the reserve able sites were taken but I managed to get site 5 which IMHO is the best non-reserve able site. Sites 1-7 have access to the lake but there is a bushy plant near shore and site 5 had one of the better clearing to get my kayak into the lake. Site 1 (group site ) had the best and sites 6+7 also had a good clearing. If you don't care about getting a boat in directly (well down a hill) into the water from your site then I'd suggest 2-7. 8 isn't on the lake, and 9-11 is on a different spur with a worse outhouse plus the water pump is near site 6. Water is rusty but tastes fine. Sites are spaced apart fairly well and are pretty big (though I only have a small tent so didn't need much room) If you want to save money nearby Hovey Lake is free but no water (5? sites)
