What Xatu knew the outcome of our heroes, but deep down inside he was too scared to tell them?
Thank you for listening to my arrangement of Great Canyon from Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red & Blue Rescue Team with original lyrics! For the last six years, I've been wanting to tackle this song but I was so unsure of what perspective I wanted to give Xatu. Over the last few months, I've been toying with this idea and decided to take what little dialogue he had and gave the song the perspective that he had a vision of the future all along, but he was originally scared to tell the heroes the truth. What if he had to have Gengar overhear things in order to allow the heroes a reason to go find Ninetails? That sort of an idea. I think this is a unique and interesting perspective that allows Xatu to have a sense of character. I really wanted wanted to portray that in this song and I'm really happy with how it turned out. I love your interpretation of these lyrics. It feels like Xatu is remorseful of having to be so criptic with their message to those who travel up the mountain ( including Gengar). They see the pain it will cause the player and their partner, but there is no other way. In order to save the world, he needs to word his vision that can be easily misinterpreted about its subject. I feel that you captured this complex set of emotions, from hopelessness, to a sudden hope, to sorrow at what must be done to save the world perfectly. This is a masterpiece.

Thank you so much for your comment. With only so much to work with, I had to take some creative liberties but I knew that Xatu never wanted anything bad to happen to anyone, he was caring but anxious. He knew things other didn't know. He also saw all possibilities, including the worst outcomes. He had to do it the way he did to set, what he possibly though, would align well with saving his world and all that in inhabited it.

Good ear. I was trying to build it up to make it feel like a stand-off against destiny. If Xatu didn't do anything, and just stayed silent, the events of what happened after the Hill of the Ancients may of never happened and there's nothing that could of been done but he also had to weight the risk of saying something and putting these two Pokémon he just met in harm's way but it was the only way to make things happen.
