I was born in 1960, my grandparents and parents would tell me about the history of America and the Great Depression era. My grandfather rode his bicycle to Southampton England and came to America on the sister ship to the Titanic. He became a coal miner for 39 years and then head butler for the Clark candy company in Pittsburgh and caretaker for a few other well known families in Pennsylvania. Stories they told and how they continued to live was like being in the Great Depression until he passed in 1986. He hated spending money. And I learned everything I could and still learning from videos like this… Never to old to learn and listen to your elders, regardless of how old I am…

I wanna go back 10 years ;-; Oh mygod its been 10 years- I was in Kindergarten in 2009 I had friends back then.. and our chihuahua Mitzi Going up to 2012-2013 is when I had 2 best friends (1 stayed my best friend throughout the years) I was obsessed with Minecraft and posted Minecraft stuff on Instagram.. (my 2 friends introduced me!) The quality of the posts were funny and shizposty _like_ but I didn’t know that at the time.. (shizposty for 2020 meme standards) And although I posted Minecraft jokes sometimes, they weren’t spam posts.. I made the edits and I was proud of em.. One of the posts had Steve with a pickaxe staring at a wall in our bedroom with the text “oh no Steve no please no do not mine through my wall again!!” Lol. I’m wondering if I should post it somewhere.. but I’ve lost the password long ago to my Minecraft insta account. So I can’t private it to hide all the embarrassing stuff stored on it as well lmao.

I remember when my mom used to make fried smelt when I was a kid. I lost her 2 years ago. I can smell it now watching Clara fry them. It was one of my favorite meals as a kid. I know my Mom and Clara are looking down right now smiling and telling stories to each other. 2 great, beautiful women that were full of wisdom and knowledge. God take care of them both.

My grandma had me cooking eggs alone (supervised) when I was 4 (31 years ago). She had so many recipes; she was always cooking and baking. My mom has a book of her handwritten recipes. I hope to make many in the future. Clara is awesome. Watching these videos is inspiring.

My own grandmother *very* recently died, we haven't even had her funeral yet, and I remember some years ago showing her a Clara cooking video. She thought it was so amazing of Ms. Clara to show her recipes and share her stories and we really enjoyed watching. When Clara died, is it weird to say her death effected me? It did. This newly released video is today bringing up that wonderful memory with my grandmother, us discovering and watching Clara, and it's such a beautiful thing. Thank you.

It is is not weird at all that Claras passing affected you..Just shows Connection and love you have for your own nan..And l say 'Love you have', because saying 'had or did have' feels dismissive and we never stop loving someone who we have emotional and physical memories with..its the whole them not being around to hug, or laugh with we miss the most. Im sure your nan will send you reminders she is still with you from time to time...never think she isnt with you...its when you need her most something like a smell, song or unique memory will come along. Out of respect what is your nans name,..my nan was Iris we called her nanny iris, but her birth name l think was Gertrude but she hated it and chise her middle name) l think most grandparents don't use there birth name lol
