Hallelujah.. my mom was born in 1925.. and her mom my Wonderful Gramma in 1901.. they went through the Depression.. I still remember the stories They told of RECIEVING tickets to buy only a certain amount of flour.. Sugar.. salt etc.. I was born at the end of 1945... I too seen some ruff times Growing up.. food.. clothes shoes...etc.. we were poor..we got Meat for dinner ONLY ON SUNDAY.. Unless my stepdad killed wild game and brought it to her.. rabbit.. Squirrel's.. frog's ( for frog legs). Eel.. fish.. pheasant.. Deer... So because of our Garden ..& neighbors my mom put 3 meals aday on the table.. we wasted nothing.. left overs were heated up and a new item added to make a new meal.. and you ate what was cooked.. what you put on your plate.. if you didn't eat it.. your plate went in the refrigerator for the next day for you to eat... Like I said we were poor..we wasted nothing... .. my mom's Old Clothes became my new clothes and my old clothes became my sister's new clothes.. my Mom even used her old clothes to make shirts for my brother.... ..

LimitlessThinker My great grandmother was born to two Italians from Naples. When I was either in middle school or high school (I forget), I did an ancestry report for class. I asked her “Grandma, are we from Naples or Sicily - I forget.” I’ll never forget her response, because I’d never seen such a look of horror and shock (and basically offensive disgust) from her lol. She turned around and stared right into my soul and said slowly and clearly, “WE ARE FROM NAPLES AND DON’T YOU EVER FORGET IT!!” I didn’t; that’s for sure! She was the most wonderful relative in my whole family and was always jovial and cracking jokes - that was the most serious I’d ever seen her. I initially couldn’t understand why she came off as being offended for my simple request for clarification, but later on I figured it out: there was quite the difference in the peoples and culture from central Italy and the southern island of Sicily. For the most part, Sicilians were generally much darker from having been more affected by breeding with Africans in their history, to the point that northern and central ltaIians thought of them as basically bIack and not related haha.

My grandma , who raised her family in the depression , would always say, not eat too much bread !, no tea , and when we left her house at the end of the day after dinner , she would have a metal cabinet , in it she would have the ,”junks”, she called it , the candy and chocolate , she would laugh , saying the kids like it , but in serious face say , Not too much junks ! Lol My grandparents had a big garden and grew all kinds of veggies and figs. They did not go to the gym , my grandpa lived into late 80’s my grandma over 90. They must of knew something !

Lisa Lovely LPA do you know the reasoning for the no tea part?
@lisalovelylpa4 жыл бұрын
Claire Bear Hmm .... I not know why except it not good for you she believed. I still like my tea ( smile ). As far as I know it is ok to drink. Though , I still not drink a lot of it. LoL

The gardening and general housework probably kept them fit, in addition to eating plenty of vegetables.

Lisa Lovely LPA yes tea is good for you and has lots of health benefits as well. I was just curious if she had a particular reason. Thanks & take care! ❤️✌🏼

@@lisalovelylpa in the persian ancient and even chinese medicine food are separated in different categories...cold and warm nature. Tea has a cold nature and should be accompanied by warm nature that is cinnamon ..ginger...otherwise having too much cold nature food would destroy little by little your health. I have been in morrocco and i have seen that they spice their fish (cold) with cumin ( warm)...it s a great science ...old persian people prefer herbal teas which are now fashionable like ginger teas...mixture of herbs which obey to the rule of cold and warm nature equilibrium...

Miss clara generation is the ones that taught me when i was growing up, my baby boomer mother was a lazy ass but im glad my grandmother was a great cook and made all her own clothes. Never ever wore makeup or shaved her legs was her natural self never smoked did drugs or got drunk. She was born in 1907 died aged 95 no women like her around no more and she was strong and fit. Said never complain about anything and work hard in all you do. Her other moto was if you make a mistake learn from it dont repeat it and release and move on. Rest in peace clara and her generation glad they not here to see whats going on today😢

@@julieelcock8477 Hopefully this will get them cooking. My young adult girls are doing their part by showing their friends how to cook. Rootless Wanders well, not all of us Americans can afford to eat at restaurants that often and for some of us we don’t even want to go out to eat that much. The most for me was Chipotle once, sometimes twice, a week. So the closings havent phased me all that much, but for the people who had jobs there I can’t imagine how much it’s already affecting them and their families. This is a very strange and difficult time for everyone.

I was just thinking of Clara today and how we perhaps are entering a prolonged time of great upheaval, peril and even economic depression. Made me think of her experiences, as well as my mom( born in 1918, in the Spanish Flu pandemic) and dad and others. Heard their stories and good advice, yet my life has for the most part, been in “ better” times, prosperity, etc. much can be learned from Clara, practical tips but also that resilience, sense of humor and no fear of work. Thank you for sharing this. I discovered Clara, not long after we lost her, so wish she was with us. Thank you also for doing what you did to document so much from her and sharing with us,

I'm with my familie in a lock down and its the first day. The next two weeks we won't be going outside our house and garden. I think I have enough ingredients in the house for 4 persons, but I really need a bit of emotional support. Let's help each other by giving some advise like Clara.

Today’s society: “get me a Porsch, Chanel, Rolex, fame , houses and money, lots of it.” Wait, scratch that shit. I’ll take what this lady says instead any day. This is what today’s media don’t want you to know. Shame the baby boomers didn’t pass those values to their children. Simple things in life are often those that make life worthwhile. Anything else is just there to fill a hole.

We need these videos more than ever today. I feel like God has us all in TIMEOUT. Some of us are being shaken to the core more than others. We are spoiled and have mistreated the Earth for such a long time. I know that great things will come from all of this. In the meantime, it will be rough and who knows for how long. The GD lasted 10 years. We are only in our second week of quarantine in America and we can already feel the weight of it all. The world is fighting together against a biological entity. It won't be easy, but we will win!
