I am waiting on the next thing to use a chip from RockChip so it will have ROCKNIX support. For now the RG353M and the RGB30 are the best options I think. I don't want to deal with Android or the default software (that's usually bad). I already have a Steam Deck but I could use something pocketable with a bit more power than the RG353M, and analog triggers.

My main problem with these companies is that they release a new device every few weeks. They don't commit to one device and make it perfect. Instead, they repeat past mistakes over and over again ...

Their business model is basically buying surplus chips from the market and turning it into retro handheld. They don't have software market like Steam,Sony,Nintendo,etc. They sell hardware, same as why there are wa too many android phones most of them doesn't get much benefit from software sales unlike Apple.

The cube is definitely not for you but 1:1 screens are very useful for certain systems: Turbografx and PICO-8

I personally love my RG-CUBE. It's my definitive Retro Android Handheld. I use it as a Single Screen DS/3DS Handheld. Also I'm sure there's no Square AMOLED's in the wild unfortunately.

@@ZealousChuck There's probably a 4:3 OLED in the wild. The only problem is that any Screen these Companies will have problems sourcing will raise the price of the Device. That's what happened with the RG552.

Retroid pocket mini + 5 are both oled. And snapdragon. But not the best snapdragon still take it over this tho I sold my cube.

I started wanting a Cube to upgrade from my 2ds, but ended up finding a new 3ds xl for cheap local so I went with that instead. It's a little beat up but works all the same for me!

The problem I have with these handhelds is that they are usually more expensive than just buying a second hand vita or 3ds. And most of the games that I cant play on those 2 consoles I can play on my phone

I would love this one for Vertical Shootem Ups and dual-screen emulation, but I really hate joycon sticks. Everything else I have the RP 4pro and the Odin 2.

I have a Odin2-mini and a RG-Cube, and funnily, I use the RG-Cube a lot more. I actually really like the square screen.

These are better than joycon sticks but they're quite low. Dpad is very decent though

So near yet so far. If only it had a decent 4:3 screen and the colour resembled the Gamecube purple. I really like the idea of playing PS2 games in handheld mode but then using the tv-out and using a decent controller for the BIG TV experience :)

We want 4in, 4:3 Amoled! Also the 405m does not have a shitty screen or a weak CPU. Especially when it first came out. Not In my opinion anyway.

On my unit the lcd was really low quality and the cpu was not the weakest but that depends what you expect from it

I gotta admit, I have this handheld and it's incredibly overrated. It just barely scrapes PS2, chugs with GameCube, and clings for dear life with 3DS. This thing was falsely advertised with it's capabilities lol. I spent 50 hours trying to configure 20 different 3DS, GameCube, and PlayStation 2 games to just hold a consistent framerate but it barely gets by 30fps. Laughable product, I'm disappointed.

I have this same console, and I actually love it. Square screen is very adaptable for retro games. In retroarch you can use overlays that hide upper and lower black bars.
