More doll hunts please :) And I totally get the "not being part of the fandom" thing. IMO if a doll speaks to you it doesn't really matter.

Doll hunts and haul videos are soo fun!!! Sometimes you can find really good things at consignment malls. I had never seen the "Fan Girl Dolls" before. I like your Glinda the Good Witch doll. She is too cute.

Thanks for the doll hunt! I think you got a good deal, especially on the marvel black widow doll. All the marvel dolls retailed at $60, except the black panther that was $80. When toys r us was going out of business, the dolls were marked %50 off and sold fast. I own the whole set now. But, they are meh to me now and im gonna sell them. You said vintage, I thought, I'm old,because I remember most of these on shelves at stores. 😁
@dollthighs Жыл бұрын
🤣🤣🤣 same. I think vintage would be dolls that are 20 years old or more if I'm not mistaken, so technically, anything older than 2003 is vintage? I could be wrong. But if American girl can do "historical" dolls in the 90s, I think it's appropriate to call these vintage. 🤣🤣🤣

The only place I ever saw the Marvel Madame Alexander dolls was at Toys R Us (they might have been exclusive?). When TRU was going out of business, the TRU near me had them on clearance for %50 off, and I grabbed the Black Panther one. I was going to go back for the Black Widow doll, but they didn't have any of her on my next trip. They only had Iron Mad and Captain America, and I didn't like their designs as much. I ended up getting some clearance Descendants dolls instead, since I was really into the franchise. I'd love if Madame Alexander did another round of Marvel dolls like that, only inspired by the X-Men. The idea of a Dark Phoenix-inspired doll and a Storm-inspired doll.... I would pay full price no questions asked for good inspired by X-Men fashion dolls. That consignment shop looks like a lot of fun!

That first stall though ! That could really help me bulk up the Holiday Barbie collection I’ve somehow acquired. (I’m not even a Barbie collector) 🤷♀️ Might as well get them all.

Your flight jacket looks so cool. 😭 I'm honestly shocked the prices aren't horrible on those dolls. I'm so used to vintage shops or even thrift stores closer to the city being price gouged to hell and back. The Queen Amidala dolls are '99 I think. I rebought one of the playline ones from when I was a kid recently and their construction is a little shoddy. Definitely better on display, lmao. The action figure section is the pricing I'm much more used to. I remember I went to a shop once and I tried to get a nude '61 Ken in really grody shape and they wanted 70 bucks. Wouldn't haggle it down. Idk where they get the idea in their head that most of that stuff is worth remotely what they're asking for it. $12 for those Made To Moves are a great deal if you're body swapping. Most of those collector Barbies are from the 90s and afaik they're the least valuable, which is great if you wanna collect them. But it's also why you see a million of them everywhere that has second hand dolls, lmao (you even found the cursed '97 Holiday Barbie!). Boxed Asha is a pretty neat find. The Halloween 5 or H20 ambulance set is dope but as a doll collector, where the hell would it go? hahaha The GI Joe and Action Man section. 😭 My weakness. If you decide to open the Glinda at all (not unbox, just slip the card with the doll attached out), I'd probably put her wand in boiling water for a few seconds and then pop it in the freezer so that it isn't all warped and flaccid from the rubber bands. The Amidala face is definitely Hasbro hearkening back to the original Jerrica/Jem doll. They're good at making dead pan faces when they want to, haha. I'm the same exact way with dolls too. I have a few of the Miraculous Ladybug ones and I don't know a damn thing about it. Same with the Harry Potter dolls. And it'd be cool to see more IRL content with doll hunts if you're ever out and about!

Thank you! Also thanks for all the info. Lol I'm terrible at doll hunting but I'm trying to learn. I mostly just order everything online because I'm a fool. 🤣
@SDjilliaRE Жыл бұрын
@@dollthighs I'm the same way to be honest. I've tried hunting in the wild and it's usually a shit show so I do most of it on eBay, haha. But absorbing doll content helps a lot. xCanadensis is a good one like you mentioned.

Laughing so hard about the lights being turned off on you 30+ min early. As someone who used to close up at a froyo shop on partying weekends….yeah, it’s a subtle hint to wrap things up. 😆 Terrible, I know.

I have that Gibson Girl Barbie you glanced at and the Clasique with the black hair and pink skirt. My favorite from this time period is the Flapper from the Great Eras collection that's the series the Gibson girl comes from. Wish the dolls from this time period didn't have the Superstar Star face mold so much.
@dollthighs Жыл бұрын
Oooh yeah I'm not a huge fan of that face mold either. That is probably part of the reason I didn't care for them too much.
@iamsoverybored878 Жыл бұрын
@DollThighs The Flapper is probably the only one from the Great Eras series that uses the Superstar face mold well. Since flappers were carefree and liked to party. I wish the other ones would of used the Mackie mold. The Flapper was the first collector doll my mom bought me so it has a special place in my collection.

Your math is not mathin' there, buddy. LOL The Phantom Menace was release in May 1999, so those dolls weren't released in 1998, and it's only 2023 which means they aren't 25 years old. The Marvel Fan Girls were TRU exclusive and the Black Panther was a SDCC 2017 Exclusive. Dolls from the 1990's are NOT "vintage" dolls. They are modern dolls. I'm convinced Trixie Mattel's season 7 finale look was based on the Classique Collection doll in pink. I absolutely would have bought that one for my Trixie Mattel doll. LOL
@dollthighs Жыл бұрын
🤣 The bottom of the doll box says 1998, so I assumed it was the year those were released. It was probably just the Barbie Trademark year at the time.
@dollthighs Жыл бұрын
Also, vintage just means "of age" there isn't a specific amount of years required for something to be considered vintage but a lot of doll dealers I've spoken to refer to dolls over 20 years as vintage so I just go by what they tell me. 🫠 sorry, I did not mean to offend anyone.
@ghosty4 Жыл бұрын
@@dollthighs We consider "old" people in their late 60's and 70's, right? Would you call a 24 year old, "old"? Of course not. Items from 24 years ago are not "vintage" items. They aren't "old".
@dollthighs Жыл бұрын
@@ghosty4 lol old is subjective, and a 24 year old doll is pretty old compared to a new doll that came out this year. Trust and believe I can smell the difference. 🤣
@dollthighs Жыл бұрын
@ghosty4 If American Girl can make "historical" dolls about the 90s, I think we're okay to refer to the 90s as vintage. 🤷♂️
