I loved this place when it was Story Town back in the 70's when I was a kid. I am glad to hear it's still there as a Six Flags.

Remember when they didnt have a station and the train cars would sit right out in the blazing sun and burn your leg when you sat on the seat lol It just had that little ramp to get to the train

The scary decorations inside the tunnel look almost like the work of Bill Tracy, that long gone horror ride artist from NJ. His shop was originally near NYC, on the NJ side, then in the late 60's he moved it to Cape May Court House, NJ near Wildwood, NJ where he had built several attractions and theming for the now defunct Hunt's Pier, and Fun Pier. He also did work at Dorney Park near me, Waldameer Park, Ocean City, MD, and more. Only his work at Waldameer and OC remains, and a few other spots.

Definitely Tracy work! The giant skull is a clear tip-off!

They need to bring the ghost town train back. Not the regular seats. But the old box car seats. Where you could get 8 people in the car. Still have leg room.

For those who want to ride this train, there is still an Arrow Dynamics train in operation. It's called Casey Jr. Circus Train, and it's running at Disneyland. Opening day attraction, in fact.

Just to follow up, the relevant info was on wikipedia: The Crystal Maze, Danny the Dragon, The Mine Caverns, and the Tornado Adventure were moved to The Great Escape & Splashwater Kingdom in Lake George, New York, over the course of a few years after Freedomland's closing.

I remember riding this as a child, probably around 2002, or 2003. All of the props and rails itself are still in place

I can see this train being missed for nostalgic reasons, but not because it wasn't passed its prime.

They got rid of this ride because they wanted to build the Canyon blaster roller coaster and the station was built right on the spot so they demolished it but you can actually see one of the engines sitting as a decoration at the canyon blaster roller coaster ride But I’m not sure what they did with the other one I know there were two of them

Hey! Could you upload your video you shot of the Tornado before it closed? I remember you saying it might be dark, but it's the only known video I know of that's of the Tornado before it closed. Please upload it!! :)

I believe I heard somewhere that the tunnel scenes (along with several other elements in the park) were purchased from the defunct Freedomland, USA park in the Bronx (in operation from 1960-1964). Here's a relevant quip from wikipedia: "Mine Caverns - A dark ride on an underground mine train through lava pits, giant bats and cave monsters"... Google "Freedomland USA" for tons more information.

Poor filming strategy bro...You looked straight ahead for 90% of the ride. How are you supposed to get the full effect of the ride if you dont look around at all the decorations and other things they set up in the Ghost Town environment? Good effort, but maybe next time focus on the video you're taking and record things that you would look at while on the ride.
