As soldiers, marines, ect... we prepare (especially while you're deployed) to sacrifice what we must for the protection of the people we care about. Whenever a brother or sisters makes that sacrifice FOR US, it's leaves us feeling such a massive debt, we feel there's no way we can ever repay... That's why a lot of us "don't come back whole". At least why I didn't, I think, after years of trying to figure it out.

don't know if you picked up on the shots of the black wrist bands, but those are worn in memory of those who were killed. At the end the soldiers that stand by for his arrival nudge each other...I remember being new in the military and seeing that wrist band, knowing the cost of wearing it.

Welcome back darlin we missed ya. I've been watching my notifications for you to react to this one. As a vet this one is so very hard. The survivers guilt is real n so very hard. Many of us have not been able to deal. At least in this story he was able to deal with it by going back n not ending his life. 22 a day..... Was watching n hoping u would see this one. This is basically my cousins story. But he was on the “ KIA “ end. He served in the Persian Gulf war ( 2 tours ) and was out and raising a family. His son at 18 decided to join the military and my cousin re-enlisted to serve with him in Afghanistan. Unfortunately my cousin Bobby was killed by and IED while driving with his platoon during a mine sweep mission. Truly such a sad story, but also such bravery as a father wanting to be there to protect his son. RIP Bobby … miss you Cuz 🙏🏼

Survivors guilt is a heck of a thing. As a squad leader in the Army it hit even harder losing men in my squad, I felt as though I failed them and their family. The shrapnel scars are a constant reminder of that day. I pray daily for those serving our country.

As others have mentioned the original by the band Offspring hits differently while still being very emotional. As one of my favorite bands I hope you will consider adding them to your list of reactions. If you don't want this particular song again I can recommend Self-esteem, Come Out And Play, The Kids Aren't Alright, or Living In Chaos as great choices to begin with..
