The thing with Celine's My Heart Will Go On performance is that it was the only time she ever sang it in the original key (rather than lowered a semitone) because it was on Oprah and she didn't have a band playing music, so they used the original backtrack. She also had literally just come back from taking a 2 year break of not exercising her voice, so she lost some elasticity. Also, just as Celine once said later in 2007, EVERYDAY you wake up with a different voice. Some days you can sing and hit every note flawlessly, and other days your voice just seems restricted. A lot of these singer's clips just took place on a bad day. When you wake up in the morning and warm up your voice, and it just does nothing for you. Although the high of performing helps greatly... it gives you the confidence to hit the note. I was sick one day before a performance in front of my entire school.... While practicing Say Something, I just couldn't hit any of the notes... When I was on stage performing, somehow my voice just came to me and it resulted in being my best performance I had ever done in High School... I was so happy with my performance. But yeah, some days your voice isn't always there... You can tell by watching tours from artists how they hit high notes one day but not the next day... It's a weird thing aha. Awesome video as always!

That Celine MHWGO performance was almost immediately after she came back from her hiatus and was out of practice. Plus it was in the original key, when she almost always performed it a half-step lower than the studio recording. Kelly's issues were both from the same time period, during the My December album promotion. She was fighting her record label tooth and nail for more control over her career and they sabotaged her album by refusing to promote it, so she was having some personal issues then. Her best vocals came after that album, though, in the Stronger era. She was CRAZY then.

In Celine's defense, I nave to say that the videos chosen for this video need to be clarify: TPOL's performance was one of the few she did live in '93-'94 and honestly the Great and high note that we're used to is not her real one...in fact most of the time she lipsync it but this doesn't take anything off from her Great stage presence. Then, the other performance was live, she had problems with earphones and she was so moved by the tragedy too that her voice shows it. But apart from this, I love her
