My wife and I hiked it last year as well. Although it took us 7 days and we stayed at B&B's, it was the adventure of a lifetime for us. Loved Scotland loved the people! Thanks Enrico for posting the video, bought back great memories!

Great video, well done. Cycled the route over 2 days during the Easter weekend this year but started in Inverness. Be warned, it was bad enough on our route but there are some killer climbs if you're thinking of cycling this route northwards. Said I'd never do it again, but this video has made feel quite nostalgic. Give me a slap somebody!!

It looked and felt like a very peaceful zen like hike. A lot of forest punctuated with awesome views. I reckon the weather was super kind to you. A late comment I know but still worth remembering. All the best. Mark

I loved the video! thanks for sharing :) and thank you for the caption - I found them interesting and informative (I hope to hike this way - along with the WHW - in October) Do you think wild camping on this way might be hard to come-by? (I saw that you did on your first day) Is food often available? (for someone not interested in cooking...) Thanks again,

Hello Enrico. Fantastic video footage of your great glen adventure. How would you compare it to the west highland way?
@EnricoWebers7 жыл бұрын
Hi Gary, I'd say the Great Glen Way is an easier hike than the West Highland Way. It's more flat, because it mainly follows the Caledonian Canal, and it's also a shorter walk. I walked the GGW in five days but it could easily be done in 4 or even 3 days. The West Highland Way is much more beautiful though, in my opinion. The WHW terrain is wilder, the hike is more demanding and because there are way more hikers on that one, it's also easier to connect and socialise with others in the B&Bs and hostels in the evenings. If I'd had to choose between either, I'd pick the WHW. :-)

Great video apart from one thing. Inverness is the capital city and biggest city in the highlands with a population of over 65,000. Not Fort William.

Absolutely, that's why I said 'largest town', not 'largest city'. I get all my details from wikipedia. :-) Thanks for your comment!
