Great Head Trail is part of the original trail system laid out by the park's designers, the Olmsted Brothers, in the early 20th century. Walking this trail offers a chance to experience the park much like visitors did a century ago.
The Great Head Trail in Acadia National Park is approximately 1.4 miles (2.25 kilometers) long round trip. It's a moderately difficult trail due to some rocky terrain and elevation changes, but the stunning coastal views make it well worth the effort.
