You've probably noticed the portrait of the Austrian-Hungarian emperor Franz Joseph I at the entrance. The place is somehow dedicated to this personality, also the name "C.K. Browar" alludes to the time of Austrian (later Austrian-Hungarian) rule over a part of southern Poland (Kraków included). C.K. stands for "Cesarsko-Królewski" meaning "Imperial-Royal" (Franz Joseph was both Emperor of Austria and King of Hungary). If any Pole even nowadays sees the letters "C.K." in whatever context, it's already obvious to us that it means exactly this. As many people know, for a long time until 1918 Poland was divided between three partitioning powers: Russia, Prussia (Germany) and Austria (Austria-Hungary). Of those three, Austrian-Hungarian rule was the most liberal (the other two more or less oppressive) as regards Polish culture and identity. Hence some positive sentiment still alive today in the Lesser Poland province (south of the country) as regards FJ's rule. This sentiment is inexistent in Warsaw (which was under Russian rule for most of the era of partitions 1795-1918). A curiosity: "golonko" (pork knuckle) is in Silesian dialect; in central Poland it's "golonka".

What a really nice bar. Was not expecting it to be so big down the stairs. Really liked all the old tin beer pictures on the wall. Would be really nice to see some bars in krakow as I know there must be lots of bars like that one underground. The chicken wings looked fantastic and looked far nicer than what you would get at kfc. Liked the idea of having your own beer tap right at your table. Can't wait for the next bar.

I'd go back for the chicken wings alone. In LA I always went to the Rainbow on The Strip for wings - now I have a new place! When we find another bar that we warm too we will bring it to our viewers - good news is we have an endless supply here!

Trams 8 and 13 go from Kazimierz (Plac Wolnica and Stradom stops) and drop you off right on the door (Teatr Bagatela stop) 4 zl each way. Download the Jakdojade app - super great and very easy to use - and buy tickets on the app. The trams are fantastic here - don't miss out on them. YOU'RE BRITISH! Of course you "like" beer. (It's the "mother's milk" of the islands you come from! LOL) POLES enjoy beer too although it's our neighbors in Germany&Austria who truly live on it. (Friend of mine spent about a month in what was WEST GERMANY. He, always chronically underweight, came back twenty pounds heavier than when he departed! No joke!!! Said "It was the BEER! They've even got one they drink at BREAKFAST like we drink coffee!" He wasn't exaggerating and was living proof his claims were totally valid!

That's actually wrong. You are supposed to pour beer quickly so that you get the air out of the beer to avoid bloating.

You are RIGHT!
@ayakosaito73236 ай бұрын
@@planetkrakow Yes, mate. Many people automatically assume that we should carefully and neatly pour a beer. But your stomach will thank you if the beer is messy. I'm not advocating 95% head/5% liquid, but you should find a balance and not pour that slowly in order to ensure that much of the air will come out of the liquid when it's poured. BTW, I'm Slovak, so hopefully I'll get over there at some point to sample a pint.
