Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean. I FINALLY reach New York City!! - Journey of Farfalla EP.3

I reach the end of the Erie Canal, Farfalla becomes a sailboat again and tastes salt water for the first time and I check off one of those big bucket list items, sailing down the Hudson River into New York Harbour!!!

Hey, Brian! Just heard you on Paul Trammel's latest episode of his 'Offshore Sailing & Cruising' podcast -- loved it and it's so awesome, as well as inspirational, to learn of other sailors living in harmony with the sea, with nature! I'm also a sailor, though still sailing on the inland lakes, in the midwest, where I grew up. As a teenager, each summer, I also enjoyed sailing/cruising in the Great Lakes -- the Apostle Islands, Isle Royale, and Mackinac Island. I hope to trailer my Com-Pac 23, SV Charm, up to Lake Superior so that I can revisit the places that shaped my life so long ago. Eventually, I also hope to also go offshore and sail to faraway lands! I am also a musician, singer-songwriter; I play 'ukulele. I look forward to exploring your music and following your sailing journey aboard your beautiful Farfalla! She has had a lot of issues that I’ve been taking care of as they happen. Most I was prepared for with spare parts preordered before I left. She now has a new alternator, water pump, electronic ignition, thermostat and housing, electric fuel pump and most recently a new carburetor, fuel lines and new racor style fuel filter. But through it all I’ve been super impressed with how well she actually keeps purring along.

Brian, can you recommend resources I can do my homework on moving a 50 foot sailboat from New York to Lake Ontario? Do people ship the mast to a forward Marina? Are there depth issues if I have a draft of 8 feet?
