I've been watching your journey and the production value is incredible,I was imagining being on the ocean and was a little intimidated by the idea and now have such a better understanding of how this loop works. Thank you for this. I noticed you always go to docks at night , is it allowed to just anchor somewhere along the route?

That's a great question! We do anchor out some of the time, and there are always options to do so. It's mostly personal preference that puts us at docks at night. Michael doesn't sleep well at anchor as he's always worried about the anchor dragging. We have an anchor alarm and it does wake us up, but it doesn't stop him from worrying. There are also a few things about The Perch that make her slightly less comfortable for frequent anchoring. First, we don't have an inverter, so power at anchor is a challenge unless we run the generator. Second, the master stateroom is in the bow and there is a good bit of "chine slap" (the water, even in minor chop, slaps against the bow and makes noise). I find it kind of relaxing but Michael does not. Finally, we really enjoy exploring the towns along the way and its more convenient to do so from a dock. Thanks for the question!
