Sam you are teaching me alot about boating in general, and the planning and electronics, thanks for that. I hope to have the chance to use that knowledge someday on the loop. Your pilot background shines through.😁 Thank you for your service sir! Rev, I hope you can catch those dolphins on camera soon. Another great video. Stay safe you two!

if you overlay a plain white piece of paper over your paper chart and hold it against your window you can trace a general outline like Capt. Sam was showing here. Once you have the trace of your water way you can annotate it and then tuck it in your notebook for the next time you pass through. A thought for Capt. Sam to discuss in an episode sometime: former pilots have a couple things in the bag when coming to the water. 1) good knowledge of the weather, 2) good knowledge of navigation, 3) good knowledge of how to work the radios and communicate with other captains and shore installations. lots of stuff to talk about!

Thanks for the clinic. I like how you have your MFD set up. I think I have the same Garmin 8612 system (just installed). I like your AIREP it reminds of many North Atlantic Crossings when we used plotting charts. Your drawing was like a T Procedure. The ones we didn't have charted, I always drew out because in the mountainous regions I flew in I did not want figure out which way to turn AFTER a V1 Cut. You forgot to mention going to the QRH after your memory items! Enough of the jargon! Hey Sam I know this is over 100 videos ago but this is priceless stuff. One thought, I don't want to bury myself "heads down" in my log and and the moving map. After my little grounding in RSW my wife Susie now see's the benefit of not fiddling around with her phone and has her eyes pealed like a good FO. I learned the hard way that all that pilot sh!t is secondary to looking out the window. (Definitions for non-pilots: "MFD" Multi Function Display, "AIREP" air report done over the North Atlantic, "T Procedure" special engine out procedure in mountainous terrain, "V1 Cut" engine failure at Go/No Go Speed, QRH, Quick Reference Handbook, RSW Regional South West i.e. Ft Myers, "FO" First Officer.)

I need to mention that Susie in between looking at her phone was saying something like "this doesn't look right". Captain Ahab wasn't listening!

I hope y'all are doing well . I installed airconditioning today. It was nice to have cold air in the wheel house. Putting the finishing touches on the boat. I will be happy when it is in the water. It has been a long journey. I still have to get my state inspection so I can get it registered. I don't know when they will be able to inspect the boat with the increase cases of the virus. Wish y'all all the best. Joseph

You are making great progress thanks for keeping us updated. I'd encourage you to be taking some videos and maybe doing a couple KZbin videos to share. There's not many people that have your type of skill-set hope to see you out on a loop someday!

Glad to see you guys are making your way towards your finish line. Watching this, I realized that I need to get Ben to look into that Bob423. I have heard of his routing app before. Do you think we would ever need it on the west coast of Florida? What made you guys decide to sell your house and do the live aboard thing? Where do you think you will want to go now that you’re live aboards? Come on back to Cape Coral!

Hi Vicki! Not sure if those tracks are on the west coast. I think he just transits the AICW seasonally. "Simplicity" made us sell!! Not sure of our long term plans, other than another LOOP some year in the future. Hi to Ben. Sam & Rev

Nice to see a little technical aspect of the chart plotter usage.. thanks for that! Love y'alls videos.. I'm guessing from watching your videos you are a retired pilot. I was a mechanic on f15s at Kadena.. many moons ago!

We cruised to st Simon island, ga. Before. Beautiful barrier islands, lots of little inlets. Must have been a great smuggling spot during the American revolution and civil war. Oh I remember the biting horse flies.

So I bought at SeaArk Nomad Voyager, I'm testing currently to see if it could do the trick for a looper. Etec 115, Honda 3000 Genny, A/C, has a 3.5 kicker (all work and are new'r) boat was made by a manufacture in AR. 25' hull 2' outboard bracket. curious if y'all have seen any smaller Loopers. and if so, do they complain about the size ? I'm in day 2 so I don't know the fuel sweet spot yet. but does have a 50 gal tank
