Serious props to Walt Disney and the exhaustive research he and his company put into this attraction. I applaud this whole heartedly.

Yes they are. Disney will probably soon remove GOD from this attraction. Like they no longer say ladies and gentlemen anymore

No negativity needed here....just an appreciation for the creation of such an attraction. I love it. Like someone said earlier, simply avoid this attraction if you don't like it.

This attraction is half Lincoln giving a TedTalk, half Paul Frees flexing his history knowledge and his awesome voice. I dig it. EDIT: This is clearly a joke. I absolutely love this ride and I appreciate the work that was put into it by everyone involved.

It’s sad… we don’t really know what Abraham Lincoln‘s voice really sounded like. He died 23 years before first recorded video. Even then that 1 minute video was a silent film. He was only 56 years old. Thomas Edison created the phonograph 12 years after Lincoln’s death. So close….

There were experiments in France as early as the late 1850's but was only intended to visually see sound waves on wax paper. Now we can scan those papers and 'decode' those recordings. Imagine if someone had decided to experiment at the Gettysburg address, the technology did exist in a way

Speech has changed & shortened since I visited in the 70's 🤔
@closetdisneynerd4 жыл бұрын
When the show went through a refurb (about 10 years ago, I think) they had found a different take of Royal Dano's dialog that was considerably higher quality than the original track, so they decided to use that when they brought the show back. And for the shortening, it just coincides with the times. Just look what they did to the Country Bear Jamboree a few years back.

@@closetdisneynerd I saw Abe speak and also went to Country Bear Jamboree when I was at Disneyland in 1981. I don't remember much about Country Bear Jamboree so can you explain the changes to that?
@closetdisneynerd3 жыл бұрын
@@choptanktuxent2 Sure. The show remained unchanged at WDW until the infamous 2012 refurb. They removed two songs; one with the Five Bear Rugs and a bit with Wendall and Henry. They removed several sentences of dialog and shortened the main songs of the show, all in all cutting the show down by around 6/7 minutes-ish. There are videos here on youtube of the complete original show and of the shortened show (I posted a video of it back in '17) if you want to compare. Hope this helps. :)

How did you record this show I just went here and they said no recording’s
@closetdisneynerd2 жыл бұрын
I sat in the back with no one around me so I wasn't disruptive and recorded anyway. If there's a ride or show that requests no video recording, sometimes you can ask the CM if it's ok and often they'll give you a green light to record if you're not 'in the way'

Didn't they use to have headphones with a storyline with it?

Wait, are they still using the old A100 figure for this? I thought they’d moved to the A1000, I swear I’ve seen a video of this show where the figure was almost human with the way it moved.
@closetdisneynerd2 жыл бұрын
I've had the understanding they are currently using the A1000. I can't see a reason for them to switch back, barring some technical difficulties that would render the A1000 unreliable.

Vincent Price should not be narrating anything other than the Haunted Mansion and Michael Jackson - Thriller videos. Anything he narrates sounds spooky AF!

Yes... it's Paul Frees. That's him most of the year in the Haunted Mansion, and still most of the Pirates of the Caribbean voices to this day, even with all the changes
@closetdisneynerd2 жыл бұрын
@@lowbaritonewwj His voice pops up all over the parks along with Jack Wagner and Thurl Ravenscroft. Frees also contributed his voice to several of the Rankin/Bass Christmas specials we grew up on.

@@closetdisneynerd this I know too well... I've had much of his resume in my head for years. ;) I read both editions of "Welcome Foolish Mortals" the Paul Frees biography by Ben Ohmart. Family and I went to this once as a kid. It's just as boring now as it was then. Seriously, who comes to Disneyland for a history lesson? This should be in a museum or recorded so it could be watched in school, not in a theme park.

you obviously don't know much about Walt Disney
@closetdisneynerd4 жыл бұрын
@Nikola Leviathan Lets all keep it friendly here. @emilysclone is entitled to their opinion and, personally, I don't think it's ignorant, I just disagree with it in the context of Walt's original plan for Disneyland.
