Stanton is a little better this year, but he still strikes out a third of his at-bats, he does not move runners, cannot run the bases worth a damn, is injury prone and cannot play a defensive position.

I remember everyone said peraza can't hit don't play him when he never had a full season to get in any rhythm. Volpe has now had a season and a half and pretty much done the same as last year. No matter how bad it gets the yankees will still play him. I think they should stick with him but also gone other prospects q long leash not just Volpe.

Stanton going down coincided with this team falling apart.. Yeah, there were a few other injuries as well... But Stantons bat in the lineup or falling out changed the dynamic and things fell apart. DJ is really showing his age in the numbers.. not sure if he's got lingering issues from the injury, but the rust should be gone. Either way, something needs to be done but frankly I"ve been laughing.. because the collapse has exposed the biggest problem.. our manager.. as long as he's still the manager, the Yanks are NOT serious about winning.. the FO has tried to cover for him by surrounding him with big guns (Juan Soto).. but Boone and his decisions when times are murky just makes this ship sink further..

Stanton doing agility drills--a contradiction in terms. Yeah, he was really getting it going offensively and then, as predicted, BAM, injured. If they can get him back and also get Torres to be normal again, they have a good chance.

Mistake letting IKF go to Toronto. Not the best player by any means, but was a solid contributor to the Yanks when moved to third and. handled center and left well too. More consistent hitter than either Le Mahieu and Cabrera, Yanks could use IKF now.

The not so great news is the Yanks got bombed by Tampa 9 - 1 Saturday. Hopefully, Gio is back asap because this lineup is anemic and needs a huge jolt. Verdugo has turned out to be a major disappointment offensively, despite being a good glove in left. I don't know what Dominguez's physically status is but they need to get him healthy and back up here pronto. Torres, even though he's been trashed, has been a better hitter this month than half of this Yanks lineup in the last month. A power strikeout reliever is desperately needed in the bullpen, and Holmes should not be used in critical tight lead ballgames. Crochet should be the solution, or roll the dice and trade for Miller from Oakland Cashman, please.

Volpe's pitch recognition and inability to hit strikes hard limits his ceiling...he is what he is...Bucky Dent with more speed and a little pop...that may be unfair to Dent, who was a good two out SS-he wouldn't make the spectacular play but he made the play on balls hit right at him, Volpe has cost his team 3 wins this year with simple errors...myself and dozens of other scouts have said Volpe IS NOT a SS, he's a second baseman-that Gold Glove was BS-home cooking saved him at least 8 errors last year-errors that were ruled hits...put him at second base and you have Steve Sax...Sax was a very good second baseman, so that is not a knock on Volpe...Cashman is trying to make Volpe something he is incapable of being...Cashman lacks the emotional intelligence to admit when he makes a mistake and rectify the problem...the Yankees will NEVER win with Cashman building rosters and Boone managing-that is a fact...lower your expectations fans, this team is a third place squad...
