I really liked this video as most people go on and on about the same tips for pruning citrus. This was short and concise. Excellent.

Thank you for this! We live in Maryland and maybe 6 years ago my dad found a grapefruit seen that was sprouting a leave in the grapefruit bag we got from cosco one day. He planted it and now it's over 6 feet tall. It's getting a lot more sun this year and it's growing fast, this info is very helpful

It would be a lot more helpful If the camera focused on the tree and not on Tony’s face.

Thankyou for doing this video, next time show better detail of what is being cut, maybe even just a graphic drawing, skip the music, just irritating.

Satsuma turned partially black. Cut that piece off. Only 1 flower. Didn't produce but shot lot of long branches. Not sure if I should prune those long branches or try to train it like an umbrella. I live just outside Savannah Georgia. Wish we could post pictures on this page

It would have been nice if the camera would have show the cut once cut instead of going back to the face so much.

Hey, I have this one branch on my orange tree thats just sagging down and personally I dont like it and I wanna remove it. Would that be okay? Meaning, it wouldnt hurt the tree in any big way or something. Im still new to gardening.

I just planted a citrus tree and on one branch I see spikes. I am wondering if that is normal or do I need to prune that branch. Thank you
@lemontea128
@lemontea128 4 жыл бұрын
Kashif R it depends where it’s at. Usually branches with spikes are rootstock growth. Most citrus trees are grafted onto a rootstock. If that growth with spikes are below the graft union, you should remove it before it takes over the tree.

Zafarbek apple ...I ABSOLUTELY AGREE! This was SO annoying, to say the least. I wanted to see even MORE of a close up of the pruning. No need to see the gentleman's face all the time.

@doninventura9474
@doninventura9474 6 жыл бұрын
You grew from a seed...that is what's wrong. I think most good fruit is grown on grafted trees. Talk to your local Nursery.
@citic101

yes i will ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Before there was grafted trees i would assume that citrus fruits must have been grown from seed ? if you want your oranges to be the copy of the orange you took the seed from you graft, quicker too i guess , you can grow apple trees from seed and yes they want come true but you will get fruit
@shredxlean
@shredxlean 5 жыл бұрын
you might as well graft stuff onto the tree, that would be much more useful, you could probably make a fruit salad tree which would be cool

@@doninventura9474 What is a grafted tree??
@doninventura9474
@doninventura9474 5 жыл бұрын
@@alexarias5717 I don't know all the technical aspects of this but basically it means that the roots of the tree are from a strong tree, and the above-ground portion is from the tree that bears the fruit you want. They must be similar, i.e. you can't mix apples and oranges. If you live near a garden center, go there and "pick the brain" of some of their help. You can also use an existing tree as the basis, and graft onto it a branch from a tree that bears good fruit. If that branch will prosper, it will produce the fruit you want.

The tree and the pruning should be the focus, skip the pruner, his voice in the background is enough. Show his hands, secateurs and the pruning site before and after. Skip the corny music as well. No one listens to that crap in the garden.
