@@teebob21I’d rather have a one-two putt 100% of the time by taking the second line over “giving it a go” and usually leaving it 15ft past the hole with the occasional make. If the distance to the hole was shorter than this I would agree with you but this is just far enough where there is no reason to 3-4 putt so I would elect for option #2 (Edit) And furthermore tbh I would probably elect a line in between the two he took 😂 It just seems to be the best of both worlds. You have a higher chance of making it in one and it’s very unlikely you would leave it too far for the next putt!

It depends on where you are in match or stroke play. If missing long doesn't matter and you need to make that put, take the fast straight put. If a lag put will do, take the slow one. Generally, I've learned to take the straightest line because I tend to over-read break and miss high. But, you really have to trust your putting.

The curved line has less risk because you hit it softer, meaning the ball won’t go as far away if you miss.

That's not true. Actually, if you can find the line that meets in the middle of those two, it would be the safer option. For the larger curve, speed is absolutely crucial. If you don't have it spot on, you miss. The straighter line, you can get away with hitting it a little harder or softer. Not so much with the bigger curve

The fast depends on your confidence in accuracy. The 2nd, although requires more skill... leaves an easy next shot if you miss.... so know your own game and skill... and choose wisely

Aesthetically I really like it when the ball finishes at the cup rather than shooting through the back of it. So I would prefer the second, but I don’t trust myself to play the curve so I would probably just fire straight at the hole and hope my line was perfect

Cup speed all day makes the hole bigger especially on really fast greens. Good greens readers find the high point and let the ball find the hole with gravity.

I usually go with #1 and just charge the cup, ALWAYS. One simple reason i have used for 50 years now...that is..never up, never in!! I cant count how many putts i "missed" because of the putt dieing one or two rolls from the cup. #1 takes out half of the reading on most shots, and if you miss the putt that far off ...its still just ONE more putt to put it in. (Granted, its 5-10 feet further away, but..would you rather tap it in 9 times out of 10, or miss one more time and three putt a couple of times? Charging the hole dropped my average game by 7 strokes, compared to tap ins. My dad started doing it after 20 years or so, dropped his by 5 strokes!!

I'm more of a middle line guy. I'm pretty good at reading the greens but I don't like to put too much speed on the line as you have a higher chance of lipping out or rolling over an edge. I'm also a sucker for a slow roll putt. They just look so clean.

I'll take a straight pot firm into the whole rather than a big round. About soft shot because once you get your line and you can see it in your head. Mind was always dotted lines like what you see on a highway going to the call. Dad gave me the best target line to started on if you started on that line correctly with the right amount of speed that put is going in 95. Percent of the time.

1 for sure. Takes more break out of it so you’re gonna make it way more often. Be aggressive with your putts, even if it means you have a 2 to 3 foot comebacker when you miss. Trust yourself to make those. My handicap decreased from a 7 to a 3 over the summer basically just putting with this philosophy

Its a trick question. The first line is way to firm and youd have a 6 footer back if missed. The second line is too tough a read, you might make 2 in 10 on that line. So its smack in the middle of the two.
