Have to agree there, Kev. I use Meg's Ultimate and Gtechniq and some others. However, for durability and versatility it's Perl by a country mile. Megs might give a great finish for an hour or so after application, but it, like so many others, soon goes patchy and fades to nil. For me, it's Perl for dressing, Solution Finish for absolutely trashed trim, and Gtechniq or Gyeon trim restorer for total longevity, protection, and finish.

Stoner's Trim Shine. Perl runs and is oily when it gets wet, but only on trim. Perl is my go to for tires, penetrates well on tires.

For the price, Lithium Graphene Cubes and Black Rhino Trim restorer have been the best I've tried when not using a legit coating. Even though the lithium Cubes acts like a legit coating and has held up for about a year now with zero fading with weekly washes.

My full time job other than my side business is at a Chrysler/jeep dealership so i have alot of experiencewith trim . . As far as prep/cleaning I use malco whitewall tire cleaner . Works great . As far as dressings I use carbrite select tire and trim and cg vrp. For restore inuse malco revive nu . Long term restoration I use lithium trim cubes . Thanks for the video. Enjoy every one .

First off. I really appreciate all of your in depth videos, i feel like im at detailing school when watching you and i cant thank you enough. You’re helping to turn me into a top notch detailer. So my question is… is there a product out there which does more than a conditioner in regard to creating a more lasting effect? About 10 years ago i worked at a car dealership and the detailing bay used a product that was applied by hand and very abrasive. They would have to tape around all of the areas they didnt want it to touch, use thick gloves and were very careful when applying it, pretty harsh stuff whatever it was but the results left on the vehicle i applied it on are still looking fantastic all these years later. Its stayed black.
@as680783
@as680783 2 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure about harsh, but with the taping and stuff it sounds like some early genesis of a ceramic coating with a dye thrown in the mix (Solution Finish for example).

PERL is only a dressing, it works well on trim that looks OK to start with but it will not restore. After it's dried I apply a layer of a sealsnt to improve durability. I know it's 'off piste' but some tyre gels work well and can last a reasonable length of time too.

Is using a hot air gun a myth to restore / draw up the black plastic oils to the surface - any users? {personally I think they are a manufacturers cut, on some would much prefer to have them body coloured - what looks worse a paint scratch or a textured plastic tear}. Some of the LSP's I've found work better and do just as good a job as some dedicated products.

Plastic fades because of impurities in the raw materials and oxidation from UV. Heat can make plastic look good but make it worse after a short time and can create lines, so I would stay away from heating plastics.
