you know I remember seeing this railroad on TV as a kid. At the end of the show they had the steam engine pulling a freight train with music playing in the background. I wished I remembered the name of it but it was sure cool to see. I am still trying to find footage of that to this day. Great video!!

@Strasburg1991 I have no idea. but given that GSMR has invested money in a ready to run Swedish steam locomotive i doubt they have any plans on refurbishing the 1702 or the 722. If you go look at 1702, you can tell it needs a COMPLETE overhaul. It was pretty much completely stripped down to bare boiler barrel, and frame, although the frame was left on the wheel sets. It was being assessed for and overhaul..... I think the management decided it wasn't worth how much money it was going to cost. :(

I went to the GSMR In july 2004 when I was 4 years old. I got to see 1702 in action. When I went she had just recently gone back into service. I'm glad that they are restoring her.

No, the 1702 was taken out of service in 2004 because more staybolts that the F.R.A. mandates were broken in the span of a year.

This is a Nathan 6 chime, at her last operation and air test a few months ago 1702 had an "original replica" Ps4 replica whistle as well 722's whistle is an IC 3 chime steamboat whistle (sounds similar to an SOU Ps4) which is in Atlanta, 630 uses an IC 3 chime sometimes (right now she has it).

1702 wore an Illinois Central 6 chime. In 1998 she wore a Southern Ps4 whistle until she went out of service in 2004. When getting put back to service in 2016, her Ps4 whistle was stolen and a new Ps4 from Rizzoli was given to her.
