I am installing a bathtub frameless shower door down here in Florida. To accomplish this I reviewed several videos on KZbin. I came across the best video, by far, that Eric posted. I had a question about drilling into a cast iron tub. I looked Eric up on line and called him. He picked up and answered my call and answered my questions!!! Thank you Eric.

The instructions given are terribly explained in the instruction manual that came with the box. I used this video step by step and was able to install everything successfully. Very thorough explanation of the installation process. We watched your video five times and then put together a VIGO frameless shower door with a 48" acrylic shower pan. I the process was very similar to what you outlined. We discovered that it is best to screw the glass guides directly into the acrylic pan without using the included anchors. Also, it helps tremendously if you have a stable and plomb framework around your shower door. Many thanks and greetings!

Awesome video. You don't know how much of a lifesaver you are. I'll be installing these doors in my bathroom soon. Would it be ideal for the wall mounting bracket to be screwed into a stud for extra support or does it not matter?

Very helpful video. What I’d like to see is how you lifted and positioned the glass panels in the guides attached to the curb. I didn’t see any suction cups, so I assume you lifted them by the edges and set it down vertically. The fixed panel is the one that I’m trying to figure out. The instructions indicate you need to attach the top rail before putting it in place. But it doesn’t seem like there’s enough room to put your hand on the outside edge (between the glass and the tile wall) if the upper rail is attached. And how do you get the glass vertical to avoid putting it into the bottom guide at an awkward angle and risk damaging the glass? Seems like suction cup holders would be the way to go. Advice?
@randycollins36455 күн бұрын
To be clear, the structural rail is attached to the fixed panel before it’s lowered into position in the guides on the curb. This is what’s shown in Steps 10 and 11 of the Elan E-class instructions. Can you lift and move the panel by using the structural rail as the lifting point without potentially breaking the glass?

Are you just leaving that final black rail siliconed to the curb, or are you actually siliconing it and fixing it permanently to the bottom of the door?
@erichoaglandgeneralcontrac73512 ай бұрын
@familyguy5081 the black rail gets installed to the curb with 100% Silicone. The curb is pitched slightly towards the shower floor. Where we rest the bar in the video is our preference. We like it closer to the glass , instead of further away. It's really a splash guard so to speak because the curb is tilted water won't run out..

Great help, thank you. We’re looking to install this type of door but in a tub version. There aren’t any studs directly behind the tile and wall where the door would line up to the tub rim. Would a heavy duty flip toggle be another option for providing support or should we scrap the Vigo product idea with the weight of the doors?
@erichoaglandgeneralcontrac73517 ай бұрын
I can tell you this... vigo doors need to hit stud work for sure. Not sure about the tub version but walk in shower is a must. I imagine the tub vigo doors would be the same. Thank you for your comment, we love helping others in there journey ❤️ 😀 😊

@erichoaglandgeneralcontrac73512 ай бұрын
@TimStJohn-xp8rv in my opinion only... I would bot go through acrylic. It won't hold and probably Crack over time.. Anything hollow I would stay clear.
@TimStJohn-xp8rv2 ай бұрын
@@erichoaglandgeneralcontrac7351 But would epoxy hold those in place enough since it is just going to guide them? I guess my next question is have you installed any with my predicament? Thank you in advance! And great video! The best I have come across and new subscriber!
@erichoaglandgeneralcontrac73512 ай бұрын
@TimStJohn-xp8rv Bless you Brother, and thank you for your kind words. They are guides yes... however the stationary glass actually rests in the bracket full weight. The brackets aren't the problem, the glass itself is to heavy to rest on acrylic, just our opinion. No we have not put them on acrylic pans to answer your question. We didn't feel good about it, especially since the pan is screwed into the studs. That much weight on the end would make that pan flex I would think.. stress it... Hope that helps brother.. 🙏

Excellent tips. I am now ready to install mine. One or two questions...Is the stationary panel carrying most of the load? I have to go through an inch of tile and cement board to get to the wall stud so I'll only have about 1/2" of the screw actually into the wood. Is that enough to support the door?
@erichoaglandgeneralcontrac73514 ай бұрын
@papakevster Great Question.. So the stationary door will rest completely on the curb. Once that is resting, then put the bar on. Check and make sure the bar is level and the door is Plumb. Then you can mark your holes to drill. The bar itself and stationary door equally hold the weight of the slider door together. Hope this helps my friend. Thank you for your kindness

Very nice video!! saved my live. quick question. I need to do a install similar to yours. Sliding door on the right (as your video) and fixed on the right. My question is, Can you flip things around so the door slides on the ouside? and the fixed part would be inside? not sure I explained well. different to your set up, my shower head is on the left (yours is on the right). But given the position of a toilet, I need the entrance on the right just like yours. I was thinking of flipping thinks around to help prevent water going through the 2 glasses. Thank you
@erichoaglandgeneralcontrac73514 ай бұрын
@TheFplopes Thanks for the kind words my friend 🙏 Absolutely yes you can flip it to the outside.. your center bracket would stay the same and just switch the glasses opposite of this video.. the smaller bracket close to the wall would have to move to accommodate the flip..
