As an electrician - Don’t do this. The whole wire wound around in a coil is a waste of time for 2 reasons. One it could create an “arc” and actually cause a fire and two- the first part that he bent parallel to the other cable (weakest point) will be likely to snap very soon bent at a right angle like that rendering that whole coil pointless. Edit: To clarify to save keep repeating myself 1. Coils cause resistance which creates heat 2. Joining a solid core cable to a flexible multiple core cable like that is an issue because the movement of the flex will cause the right angle at the start of the solid core to snap. 3. The heatshrink will somewhat hold it in place but this can cause a gap in contact causing a spark to jump hence arc=fire 4. I am a UK electrician so i’m only explaining this from the perspective of the UK which has one of the best electrical installation systems in the world. Argue all you like but it’s a fact. Thanks for all the likes though :)

Ferromagnetic core is the most commonly used material, however, it is possible to use nothing but copper for an inductor. It won't be as effective of an inductor, if only copper is used, in place of a ferromagnetic core, but you'll still have an inductor. Therefore, do not do this, if it is for telecommunication purposes, because the resistance to a change in current flow, will disrupt the flow of communication.
