here I share a simple way to make some blocks and use up your half square triangle cut offs. I use these as leaders and enders to make a bonus project.

Just visited your site for the first time…what an inspiration! I also hate to waste the smallest piece of fabric and typically have a container full of tiny starters/enders by my machine. Now I’m thrilled to start making four patches…from micro size to whatever size that will fit my scraps. Your ideas are amazing 😊

I have been doing this for quite awhile. The only difference is I sew the intended sew line first, then sew 1/2 inch from the intended stitching. I have gathered lots of tiny 1/2” triangles from sewing two at a time.

Hello & thank you for watching! I love making bonus blocks with the cut offs. yes, some viewers have asked about my cutting table. My husband designed it for me & had a friend who was a wood worker build it. I am soooo thankful to my husband! He use to watch me sit on the floor with my cutting mat & ruler to cut my fabrics. I did what I needed to do to get by but this table has been a game changer! I use it everyday! I have talked with him about marketing them because it would help so many people. He is looking into it but may take time. He has designed the top with wood that has an inlay groove that fits the 18x24 mat. There is a wood hinged top that holds a June Tailor slotted ruler that measures up to 12 inches with half inch slots as well. It perfectly aligns to the rotary mat to get precise cuts. Thanks for asking!

I just "found" you this morning, and I am soooo glad I did! I have oodles of triangles and can't wait to put them together to make hourglasses. I save my cut offs; they are what I sew 4:13 when I am stressed or have too many unfinished projects. I just keep the triangles in a jug until sewn then I keep them in a drawer after squaring up. It’s very relaxing for me to sew without a purpose some days

Hello, Yes, my husband designed my cutting table & a wood working friend built it. We have discussed marketing it....I have had many comments on it. Have you tried Quilters Select rulers? I have a few of them & they are very helpful to me as well. They have a coating on the underside that prevents slipping. Also try hand weights to put on the end of your ruler when cutting. they help as an extra hand. I learned that trick from Jordan Fabrics on KZbin. I hope this little suggestion helps...

You are amazing Marnae.❤ I always learn so much from you. Thank you for this video.🎬🎥📽️ I feel the same way you do about the scrap's.👍✂️📏📍⭐🗑️⭐✏️📐🧵🪡 ( My Mom was raised during the Depression year's. They made do, with little to nothing, everyday. They saved everything, string, paper, old hand me downs. She taught me to "Waste not, & Want not". I don't know how many times I was delighted to find myself very pleased, about repurposing something, I had saved) I took a beginner sewing class this spring into summer. My sewing machine is a bit frustrating at times for me, so I plan to buy a better one soon. Thanks to you, l'm not discouraged that my 1/4" seam's aren't perfect yet. You've helped me be determined to just keep sewing no matter what. Using leaders, & enders is a smart idea. But Marnae, you took saving scraps to another level. Not only do you reuse the scrap's as leaders, & enders (so the feed dog's won't chew up the fabrics) but you also, repurpose the scrap's into useful projects, I LOVE IT. BRILLIANT 😮 I think with not just throwing away all those scraps from sewing, we are saving the space it uses up, with the amount of trash put in land fills, & dumps. Chain sewing also saves on the amount of thread we waste too. As a beginner I see me developing great habits from "Kindred Spirits" from the like's - of wonderful people, like you partner.😂🤠 Luv ya fellow sewer, Jenny from Maine 🦞🦭🐻⛵🦌
@marnaescountryfarmhouse11 ай бұрын
Hello Jenny! The more we chat, the more I just want to hang out with you! We are like kindred souls lol... I love all the pretty colors that scraps make! I have a friend who comes & sews with me weekly. She has always made clothes from patterns but now I have taught her to quilt. We have sew much fun! We made quilts together last year and I had made bonus pillows from the scrap cut offs from our quilts. They were very pretty! I love the old fashioned saying of "mend & make do, use it up, wear it out or go with out" ....something like that....I hate to waste too! especially about the landfills. Too much is just wasted... Someday...maybe when I get rich....ha! We could have a place where we could do a retreat where all of my subscriber sewing friends could come and we could sew together! Much love! I do enjoy chatting with you!!
