Wish You Were Here is a tribute to Pink Floyd's original singer/ guitarist and co-founder Syd Barrett. A very deeply emotional song, which is what Pink Floyd does best.

@@patdarago1194 Roger Waters: The interesting thing is that when we finally did do an album the album (Wish You Were Here) is actually about not coming up with anything, because the album is about none of us really being *there*, or being *there* only marginally. About our non-preence in the situation we had clung to through habit, and are still clinging to through habit -- being P.F. Though its moving into a sligtly different are again because I definitely think that at the beginning of 'Wish You Were Here' recording sessions most of us didn't wish we were there at all, we wished we were somewhere else. I wasn't happy being there because I got the feeling we weren't *together*, the band wasn't at all together.

(In regards to expressing your emotions) “To me, there are three things we all should do every day. We should do this every day of our lives. Number one is laugh. You should laugh every day. Number two is think. You should spend some time in thought. And number three is, you should have your emotions moved to tears, could be happiness or joy. But think about it. If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that’s a full day. That’s a heck of a day. You do that seven days a week, you’re going to have something special.” -Jimmy V

David Gilmore stated in an interview that the song was written from the perspective of youngster playing the guitar along with the radio. When I heard that I was kind of floored as I was the youngster playing the guitar along with the radio and have had my own youngsters playing along with myself. Despite what people say about this being about Syd Barret the bands own words are contrary to that. In the documentary, "The Story of Wish You Here" both waters and Gilmour both had differing interpretations. Therein lies the greatness of this song, one hundred people can listen to it and you will have one hundred different interpretations. The band themselves consider this one of the greatest songs and I concur.

Anyway, just also wanted to say, thanks as always and just so you know, I have subscribed to other reactors and other channels for other things, but yours is honestly the only channel that I watch everything that you post. I don't always get to it immediately and I am still cruising the stuff you posted before I was enlighted to your channel, but you need to know that the reactions you give have me feeling things that I haven't remembered in years and that is not a bad thing. You don't have to hold your feelings back, let it out if you want. The strongest people in the world are those who know that they can openly feel without being broken. This song always gets to me. My dad was a massive Pink Floyd fan and I was raised listening to them. Every morning to wake me up for school he'd put on one of their albums and turn it up to max and I'd get up and walk out of my bedroom to find him cooking breakfast, "dancing" and bopping around the kitchen. He loved Pink Floyd's music so much it was a corner stone in his life, he would often quote lines from their songs. He passed away a year ago and I can barely listen to a Pink Floyd song without balling my eyes out. He was a great man and now he has learned to fly, no longer "tongue tied and twisted just an earth bound misfit."

“Young Lust”, “One of my turns. “Young lust” is more upbeat and funky-if you can do the official videos, great! (I’ve seen others do it( BUT.. if not, then a lyric video or something- Another brick in the Wall is a fantastic album! Songs fade into one another and take you on one Hell of a ride! The move is phenomenal greatness! ❤️✌️✨

Any of us that have listened to Pink Floyd realize the strength their songs have on our emotions. Between their exceptional lyrics and the unique melodies you cannot help but be affected. All Pink Floyd albums are inbeded in my brain. They created their albums to be listened to like it was one long record. I listen to one Pink Floyd song and i immediately think of the next song that will be playing. It's truly the only way to really "get" Pink Floyd....one whole album at a time.

I know I pipe in too much, but just love watching you. This song, this song. As an old Gen-Xer here, I grew up listening to Pink Floyd, and this song as well as "Shine on you Crazy Diamond" came out at a time when we started to lose friends to accidents, drugs, etc....and to my friends and me, it became our goodbye songs, and yeah, we cried. Because Pink Floyd captures the feeling of loss so darn well in these 2 songs...Pink Floyd lost their lead singer to drugs (in a slow way) so it's personal and they convey it so well, that is why it resonates...it is true to them. When my sister was killed, my ex husband took me to the beach for the first holiday after it happened to try to help, and I will never forget on Thanksgiving day, at the beach at dawn, I watched the sun come up, and wrote a note to my sister in the sand, and, yeah, part of it said "wish you were here"...so, I guess what I am trying to say is it is okay to let it touch you and express your emotions. That is what connects us all, that is why music is so beautiful...it connects us: anger, love, sadness, happiness, silliness, frustration---all that and more.

Whoever said a man isn’t supposed to cry is a fool. There are plenty of songs that can bring me to tears, the connections to those who are gone and where we were at different times in our lives. When you have those feelings it means that it touched your soul/heart and you should be able to express your feelings. Negativity pay rent to occupy room in your head. Embrace it my friend, it’s a beautiful part of your life ♥️😎

Sweetheart never hold back your emotions and your need to cry. That song gets me every time. It’s healthy and after all we ARE human. You just happen to be an exceptional human. My brother is a true genius and Pink Floyd is his favorite band. Their songs are deep and it’s an outlet for him because all his life he’s said he hates being a genius. What I’m trying to say is, it’s ok to feel the music. That’s what it’s there for. Might I suggest R.EM.’s “Everybody Hurts”. Love to you Leo! ❤️
