Great Western Guests Steal The Show | Great Central Railway - Winter Steam Gala 2025 - 25/1/25

From Thursday 23rd - Sunday 26th January 2025, the Great Central Railway held their annual Winter Steam Gala event that saw an intensive timetable of full line passenger, local and demonstration goods trains running. A selection of the home fleet locos were joined by 3 visiting Great Western Railway engines with 6880 ''Betton Grange'', GWR 66XX Class 6695 and GWR 2884 Class 3850 headlining the show.
Due to the poor weather forecast for Friday and Sunday, the decision was made for me to attend on the Saturday, didn't attend the Thursday because there would be more things running from Friday - Sunday. I just wish that it wouldn't get dark as early as I'd liked to have been able to film some more stuff but can't have everything I suppose. But I was content with what I had filmed on the day. There were two spots that we filmed at, a new location for me was Kinchley Lane, very busy but if its going to be this busy then I'm not sure if I'd go back to this spot again. Quorn & Woodhouse station was the other location we filmed at.

78018 was also in service, but failed on the Friday, a well done to everyone involved with organising the show for managing to keep the timetable as close to the original as possible.
Another good show, as ever there was a nice variety of locos and trains running at the event, I'll look forward to the next one as always.
