3rd Visit to Pangbourne Station on the Great Western Main Line first since October 2019
Featuring services from Great Western Railway and CrossCountry Trains plus also some freight.
Pangbourne station is one of 4 stations on the GWML to only have platforms on the slow lines only with the others being Acton Main Line, West Ealing and Burnham with those 3 managed by TFL and since May 2022 now part of the Elizabeth Line
Up until 1882 before Tilehurst opened the 1st station after Reading was Pangbourne which opened in 1840 when the GWML was extended to Steventon
Fast services can sweep around the outside of the station at speed with relative ease
Today stopping services are served by Class 387 Electostars with a half hourly Monday to Saturday frequency to and from Didcot Parkway with hourly on Sundays
When the Class 387s first began running in January 2018 in 8 car formation they were only long enough at first for the front 7 coaches however since 2019 the platforms were extended to solve that issue.
Although GWR was rebranded in September 2015 from First Great Western however whats rather suprisngly that the original FGW signage is still present.
