I did 600 mile round trip (from Chicagoland to Little Egypt, your neck of the woods) on my '04 Roadster. The first half was on highways and thought my organs would rearrange themselves. The second half on the interstate - MUCH more smooth, but my back was aching. My significant other said I was a different person after the long ride. I did a season of rides in just a few months to discover what bike was best for me. The Sportster is an amazing bike for a once-in-a-while-occasional ride (or awesome, round town bike.) I added to the stable a Heritage Classic for the long rides. I kept the Roadster. Yes! P.S., I put 5k miles on my Roadster in seven months. Ride your ride and decide when it's time to move 'up.'

I bought my Victory, Dusty, with 11,007 miles on it, which is funny being 7 miles off of an even thousand, like yours! this summer I set the goal of riding her ten thousand miles, and I'm at 3,770 as of today, and with Route 66 this fall I should smash my goal! id love to stop in and see you on the way, Joe!

Joe, I think I was your 6th sub so I’ve been there since day one. It’s because of you that I have a Del Rey windshield & Biltwell Chump handlebars on my bike, both of which are awesome! I look forward to seeing what comes next. Hopefully some day we could meet up & ride together. I too love my Sportster. Of course there’s better, more comfy options but they’re just great bikes that are a blast to ride. Safe riding!

I love my Iron883, it is no speed demon but not a slow bike either. Same basic mods as yours. I will work on front end soon. I have always believed it is more fun to ride a slower bike fast then a faster bike slow.

Congrats! I'm about 300 shy of hitting 20k myself, I did alot of my mods early on though the big game changer was the seat upgrade.

Congrats on reaching 20K! In a lot of ways, 20K can be harder to reach than 50K in this sense that there is so much learning and so many trials involved in getting there. Are you a HOG member by chance and do you log your miles through them? I ask because of the pins and patches they send out and was wondering if you do anything to display them?
@GreatEgret5 жыл бұрын
That is so true abot being to reach 20K than 50K. I really need a place to display all my motorcycle stuff.

How many tune ups and oil changes and anything break down before you hit the 20k
@GreatEgret5 жыл бұрын
The only thing that broke before I got 20k was my ABS wheel speed sensor. That was on me because I was riding on a road I should not have taken my Sporty. I did all the required service maintenance every 5000 miles. I did oil changes every 3000-5000 miles depending on the conditions I was riding in.
