Well... Gaijin have caused the scenario. At max it can only go up .03... you cant put a tank at the same BR as a identical tank with more useful features... Thermals and better smoke are VERY useful to a Challenger player... but if they have a BR value... other vehicles would have to be taken into account otherwise "BIAS".

Because it is balanced. Good firepower as everything around it, no thermals as most things around it, decent turret armor as everything around it, worse hull armor than everything around it, a bit better reload than everything around it. What you see being pulled off by youtubers are cherry picked games with fully spaded vehicles and aced crews, one of which some 90% of players will never have and in these games they sweat their balls off using broken positions against unaware enemies. For average, slightly above and slightly below average players it's perfectly balanced. By far the best event tank. Stat for stat worse than 292 but BR for BR more balanced and more fun to use compared to 292 on release date and now that it went up in BR twice. Big bonk = fun, 10s reload =/= fun.

@burneracc2567 Firepower is worse than average. Most vehicles at 9.3 - 9.7 already have DM33 / DM63 / 3BM42. The Shot L23 is somewhat equivalent to that of 105mm DM23, which is common between 8.7 and 9.0 for NATO vehicles.

The small ready rack is a counterbalance tho. It honestly made the matchups between the 105 Abrams tanks and the Challenger 1s go in the Abrams' favor when it comes to sustained use in battle, trying to get kills back to back and beating enemies or each other on the reload.

I think one of the most underrated tanks at 9.7 is the Sabra mk1 , you have an ok armor might bounce some shoot and laser warning system , amazing gun with 6 second amazing reload and amazing round for it's BR, thermals and laserfinder, and really good mobility, I like it way more than the 120S only cuz this one actually has decent mobility

My highest British tank is 10.3 so this was the perfect compliment to my lineup. Yeah it’s going to move up at some point but I’ve brought the Chieftain to 11.3 and it held its own in terms of firepower so it’ll still be usable just not as good

As a germany ground main at 10.3 I been lately fighting literal hordes of this thing. It feels kinda weak tbh, it is easy to kill, at least easier than the T-72s and T-80s I usually have to fight in that tier. The lower hull front plate/turret ring are easy to hit and the upper front hull can be pened with 105mm DM23 without the driver tanking all the damage (unlike in the russian tanks, where Dmitri the driver is apparently denser than DU).

I have some complaints actually. First off , the commander position. He is sitting above the turret composite so he has 40mm of armor protecting his head. A turm 3 one shoted the turret crew with the 30mm because it fuzed on the commanders optics which also sits above the turret armor Bmp-2/3's can kill it through the commander optics aswell. Second, some times my driver just takes damage from non penetrating auto cannon fire. I suspect the commander position isn't modeled correctly on any challenger. Alot of times apfsd (3bm22/Dm23/33 rounds penetrate the turret cheeks that shouldn't. I'm hopeful that it won't be knee jerked moved up in b.r without giving players time to learn how to fight it. Id rather avoid a btr-80 moment were it became unplayable, no offense intended towards btr-80 players (god bless'em).

@@Investigator227 Turret armour can be trolly enough to stop 105mm DM33 and sometimes 120 DM23. CE protection on it is very good - enough to stop I-TOWs from the Bagel, and the APS03 on the ZBD04A with the front plate and turret armour.

I mean its a god at hill fighting (except for a full uptier because M829A1 exists), but hill fighting in of itself is kinda ass. If your map only has hill fighting on one side and nobody spawns your side, then thats a GG because you're essentially food for the entire other 2/3rds of the map. Also, idk what it is but a proper hulldown where your hull is *fully* hidden is super hard to find, even with -10 gun dep. TL:DR its good at hill fighting but hill fighting is rare, hard to find true hulldowns (might just be me), and dont have much versatility. If theres no players and the rest of the map doesnt have hills, thats GG.
