This ten-minute silent Goodyear film contains most of the surviving footage showing how Akron’s rigid airship construction shed, the “Airdock,” was built. Beginning in the heady days before the stock market crash, contemporary construction equipment - one is steam powered - raises what would become the largest free-space enclosure in the world for many decades to follow. Refurbished by Lockheed in the 2000s and now home to LTA R&E, Akron's Airdock is a unique American structure, said to be capable of enclosing the buildup of a 20 million cu ft airship.
