What's so brilliant about this isn't really the price quoted for the items in the market today. It's the provenance and the bringing to life of the story of her great grandfather and his achievements in the great houses of Europe. The Rothschild's kitchen was a very organised place where previous diners favourite meals were kept on record and served especially upon their return. So the king made a good move. It's amazing to see and hear her great grandfather's story being told, and now being documented on video to live on in the modern world.

And this looks like it was from quite a while ago. i wonder what that value looks like today Edit i checked this was from 2003 and a strict monitary and chronological conversion puts £15k to £29,721.82 and that becomes just over $38k Now idk how the prices of those pieces have varied since their markets are seperate from the direct currency but if they retained the value, neither appreciating nor depreciating, they had at the time of filming then yeah thats a fair chunk of change
